you're gonna need to get a LOT of various anomalies before a scientist will do anything for you, to the point it's not even worth the trouble of getting said anomalies. if you do, tho, take them to romaine, turn them in and "buy" something. eventually, a scientist will deign to grant you some time:rolleyes:
It is true. You have to "buy" stuff with anomalies and a base item. Simplest way to move up in the world of crafting seems to go with a lot of anomalies (they can be in your bank, don't have to be in your inventory) and about 6 (?) white Mark II Phaser Beam Arrays.
It has nothing to do with what you specifically buy here - only thing that matters is that you buy equipment worth of certain amount of energy credits. (And Phasers happen to be the most convenient way.) The challenge later seems to be to get the base item, actually. Anomalies you'll probably will have tons off. There is supposed to be an update on Memory Alpha in either the next update (Season 1.1) or afterwards. it mostly is about clarifying how it works and where you are in terms of crafting. You might want to wait for that to happen before you try it. (I certainly do. )
