I am going to up grade to Windows 64bit . Do I need to save anything? Or is everything saved on Cryptic?
Let me know thanks.

The only thing I think you would need to back up in regards to STO is the screenshots, if you want to keep them...

Screenshots, if you value them. I think most of the data (options, binds, etc.) are stored on Cryptic's side. Though there's also a "localdata" directory in both the "Cryptic Studios" folder and the "Live" folder. Not sure what those hold, but I would guess graphics & sound settings (i.e. machine-specific stuff).

Backup the entire STO folder so when you reinstall the game, you just move your older copy of the game and you won't have to wait so long to upgrade.

Personally, if I have to re-install, start up STO forst to make sure I have all the latest updates.

Then I back up my entire LIVE folder.

When I'm ready to put STO back, I download and start the updater. I stop and exit the updater when I get to the point where it starts downloading in earnest.

I then replace my backed up files into the LIVE folder, and re-start the updater.

It checks through the files, and then lets me log in immediately.

Saves a ton of waiting time in downloading and re-installing.

depends what you are upgrading from and to. If it's win 7 from XP then you have no chance of upgrading. You'll have to have a new, clean install.
If it's vista to Win 7 then it will all work afterwards.
If it's win 7 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit then you have no chance of upgrading. That's also a clean install.

And yes, speaking of screenshots...can anyone point to where can I find a app that can convert Apple's Truevision TGA screenshot captures, to regular Jpeg conversion.

Reason I asked, cause the blasted software was defaulted auto for certain pic viewing venues. The game's screenshot captures was one of them. I removed the software to see if I can use otherwise, but no go.

    Any suggestions?

And yes...you will love Windows 7. As long you have plenty of RAM.:)

For viewing pictures and doing simple editing to them - like saving to different formats/cropping, etc - I use Irfanview. Its small and works well and it will convert a lot of different formats. Give it a try.
