Especially if a death penalty is getting added in!
I just finished a DSE last night, and as soon as I killed the last enemy, a flagship fleet spawned right on top of me. There was not chance whatsoever to fly away and escape before getting killed. I'm in a cruiser, and I was still dead within five seconds. Evasive Maneuvers and full engines does nothing to help the matter. You just can't escape before you take about 50 hits and get blown to bits.
Aww. I kind of like being kept on my toes when I enter an encounter.
The flagship spawns can be beasts at times but I'd hate to see them go. Haphazardly banding together with whomever's around and keeping each other alive through one can make some fast friends.
Stupid question along the way... The DP does not apply in DSEs, PvP, Fleet Actions... Where DOES it actually apply???
None of the devs have posted that the DP does not apply to DSEs or Fleet Actions. The DIFFICULTY SLIDER does not apply to any open content and to STFs.
However, I can tell you for a fact (having tested it on test server) that the death penalty DOES apply to DSEs and Fleet Actions currently. It appears that the only place the DP does not apply to is PvP.

except open content like DSE's and Fleet actions where the difficulty slider does not move off of normal would leave the DP at none. (probably includes STFs also, a thread where people had tested them they were stuck on normal)

There's a difference between being kept on your toes and getting needlessly slaughtered. Apparently you didn't read my post. I had just killed the last enemy for the DSE I had been in, and the flagship fleet spawned right on top of me. I had NO WAY of fighting back and NO WAY of escaping. I was dead within 5 seconds. No opportunity to do anything, not even if I had the fastest reflexes on the face of the planet.
Fleet Actions and DSE's are by design a PUG activity. Steep difficulty and random strangers who don't talk or coordinate in any way is a bad combination.

Yep no DP in in Dse's and a few othter places it is not a blanket dp every where in the game..

Specifically snix said, "Fixing the spawn locations of DSE, so you should not arrive and be under immediate attack."
