Is space PvP still painfully imbalanced?

Hi everyone,

I played for the first time in more than a month tonight, but I decided to do some PvE since I had played lots of PvP as a Fed at launch and Head Start, and it was an absolutely miserable experience.

But I would like to do more than just PvE if I'm going to stick with this game, so: Has Cryptic addressed the imbalances at all, or is PvP at the same stage it was at launch?

Any info would be appreciated. Cheers.

It is actually worse than at launch, but the next update 1.1 has some much needed improvements.

yes totally, the feds are almost impossible to beat unless they are actually being controlled by monkeys as an experiment or afk.

90% of the Fed playerbase basically is less intelllectually gifted than monkeys, so what is your point?:D

Nah, nubsuckleonic beam is still around as is VM, the new flavor of the month is stacking target subsystem shields or simply buff stacking to do insane DPS. Feedback pulse is worse than ever since they allowed the reskill, because everyone who 'relies' on that ability has it maxed now.

We all wait for the patch, VM will not be a 30 second stun but instead a random subsystem shutdown (no shields) and the nubsuckleonic will remove one (or all?) buffs and some other stuff. They also look into the excessive damage being dealt right now...

To the OP: Test on Tribble. There are a ton of changes that affect PvP.

If you do nto run with sci team and you PUG pvp all the time then yes PVP is "IMBA"
If you have a good fleet or group of friends that you PVP with that know how to PVP the game is fine.
BTS is not a flavor of the month as much as something like jam sensors is. We have a new counter to BTS.....In our latest video we took our shields off (unequiped them) and had a premade quit the match and then beat the following PUG's without shields.
Bottom line STO is still filled with scrubs that think they know how to PVP cuz they beat NPC's all the time or they know how to use cannon rapid fire and high yield torpedo, or becasue they say alive by stacking RSP and healing themselves, My personal favorite is the science vessels that brag about being able to NUKE with FBP3 which only works on beams and only if the dumbest of enemies continues to shoot volleys at the sci vessel with FBP active.
    Your post should have said
"Is STO still filled with scrubs?"
the answer to that is YES

Congratz, 600K damage and 0 kills. Way to contribute NOTHING to your team.

How many times have we seen that, lol!

To be honest, any pug worth his/her salt should bring along a sci-team. Sure it means losing a slot, but the amount of VM's and other sci-debuffs flying about make it a must have.

I've been kinda bored for a while, but I keep playing it. Why? This game has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Despite all the things they got wrong with this game, they got a lot right, with some good ideas. I can see tons of things they could add to this game in the future, but I also see tons of things they need to fix....now.

To the OP, if you're refering to the klingons getting cloak, universal BO slots, cannons on cruisers, and more maneuverability...and feds get about a 10% boost in hull and shields, and one more console, then yes, it's still imbalanced.

PvP sucks unless you are playing a Klingon.

Klang ships are completely broken in all aspects.

So badly that if Cryptic actually restated the Fed Escorts with their equivalent BoP stats as I recommended all Klangers would quit because they would no longer be able to cheat.

Only reason to Fed PvP is badges..

Cryptic hanging a steak around their ugly kids neck to get the dog to play with him.

i am playing a fed in pvp, i actually feel sorry for the kdf so far, they get beat almost every cp map unless we have a player who wont grp and impluses and gives away free kills or we dont get a full 5, tho not even always then. a half decent team of feds is almost impossible to beat. At least in tiers 2&3, 4 might be different, but then i thought that about t3 when in t2

    I rarely group.

I wait and see if I'm invited, then I'll join.

If I'm not invited I will still help, because Klangs are too dishonorable to leave 2 ships that are engaged alone to sort it out and HAVE to gang up on people.

I don't want to sound like a jerk too much but your complaint on every recent post about klingongs comes from a lack of understanding

I bet you are both Klingons, right?

I will watch your vids, but I don't see how they will prevent 6 Klingons from butt jumping me and VM/ snbing me then cannon spamming me...

Unless I just stay far away. I did that once. I respawned and was busy in chat and this Klingon BoP decloaks above me at the station. So many torpedoes hit him so fast I never got to fire LOL.

lol, the vids will show that we are not klings.

but we do have kling alts, I have a general and the others are working on leveling theirs up. so we will be owning on both sides of the field soon enough.

    am i a klingon.......ROFL
I am 100% sure you are new to PVP. DOB is the most hated / feared / respected fed fleet in STO. We destroy our enemies fed and klingon because of what I have posted. I speak from experience, we learned by trial and error. When we first started PVPing we lost badly...we stopped rebuilt coordinated and added some new strats....then retried and rinse wash repeat weeks later we RARELY lose a match. And with our best players we are undefeated for the last 5/6 weeks

    OK

    I understand now.

You are battling as a well coordinated fleet with a LOT of experince playing with each other using vent or some other microphone set up to hear each other.

I am soloing. This means I enter a PUG at most. I don't know these people. I don't have the time to join a fleet. I also don't have a microphone/ vent setup.

I like your HUD, but would be flinging things out all over the place as I right mouse clicked to rotate the field.

I never saw 6 Klings on any of your ships at once, but have only watched one vid so far.

I've been PvPing for a LONG time, how can you say I haven't just because I'm not geek enough to memorize fleets? Sorry I don't care that much.

I fly a Fed Escort. I am real good at "feeling" performance, It's what i do.

I fly a BoP, immediately I feel a marked difference in performance.

I'm at the end of Tier 4, and I can say my favorite capture maps are those where both sides are running teams with more than five firing neurons between them. It just becomes a clawing-tooth-and-nail struggle for every friggin' point, and you end up winning or losing probably by 10 influence ^^

ok they are a premade fleet who have very good team play, you could say that it sould not take that lvl of performance to beat a kdf pug, i hear all the time a pug v pug the feds always lose, now i dont make vids (wouldn't know how tbh) but i have a few screenshots for you as fed pugs i have been in recently over the last couple of days

these are not isolated events they are a regular occurance i would love to say it is all me, but it isn't, these pug teams play well, ok a full premade with good teamwork may have won any one of those matches but if that is what it takes to beat a pug then the pug is doing something right, you must be doing something wrong along with the people you end up with if you lose as often as you claim. The balance is not nearly as bad as you claim, sure it could use a tweek here or there with some abilities but ur talking some fine tuning not a majorly broken system

    I am actually at work.

They let me post on the computer as I work.

This PC would implode if I tried to run STO on it.
