STO Questions

I am considering purchasing STO, however I have a few questions that need to be answered first ;)

1. I'm purchasing the CD game from Ebay. Now, I know that it comes with 30 days free, and then you have renew it, but how do I renew it when the time comes?

2. Once STO is installed, what happens then? Do I just update (if needed) and then play? Or is there a register-game I need to do?

3. I'm also considering buying some computer hardware (new motherboard, graphics card, processor), and of course, I'll be reinstalling Windows XP and all that. But how will I be able to get STO back on there? Do I just use the CD to install, (most likely update after), then log in and play?

I know the questions may seem obvious, and pretty silly, but, oh well. :)

Just reinstall the game. When it brings up the website and asks for the key, just ignore it and close the browser, and the installation will continue... (Just remember your User Account and Password for the launcher to get back in...)

when you create your account youll need to either enter your credit card details or enter details of a game time card not sure of other payment otions, once you free time expires your account will automaticaly renew when the each billing period is due

to play or patch ST:O you need an active account. install ST:O then create an account and register your product code then fist time you start and logon to ST:O it will download and install any updates

you could just reinstall ST:O and let it patch again if you prefer the long wait. the least you need to backup is the piggs folder but the game will still need to patch a few other files. the best way imho is to backp the whole ST:O install folder then install ST:O again on your new XP build then just replace the new install with your backup.. simples

only obvious to those who know the answer but if you need to ask the question in the first place the answers are obviously not that obvious :p

Now i may be mistaken, but isn't EBay a auction site? Dosen't that mean the the copy is probably used? If so the key is locked to a account, preventing you getting both into the game or even the 30 day trial period.?

The copy is not used, its brand new, and not opened. And yes, I know it doesn't reach the minimum requirement, but I've played the beta, and my computer does fine when its on the "recommended" graphics. Though when I warp to another system or beam down to a planet it takes forever to load (probably because of the processor...), so I just lower the graphics, and it loads instant, and once the map loads, I turn the graphics back up. Its not to bad, and later in the year I plan to buy a new gaming computer.

The game runs fine on a single core proc. I think your system is fine imho. To me the minimum specs are set way too high.
