Getting New PC

Hello,
I am going to be purchasing a new PC in the not too distant future. I don't know a whole lot about computers though. All i'm looking to do is to play STO with full graphics settings and NO LAG whatsoever. If anyone has any suggestions on Brand, Processor, Video card, RAM etc, that would be awesome. I have been looking at Alienware's and Dell XPS 8100's, if that helps.
Thanks

This is my current setup... with 1 or 2 differences... i get NO lag at all and incredible load speeds. No lag even while recording FRAPS video.

Hitachi 1TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G
    Corsair XMS 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x2048MB)
LG 22X DVDRW SATA w/o Software
    ULTRA X-WIND ALUMINUM FAN K8/AM2/AM2+/AM3
    AMD Phenom X4 9750 2.4Ghz 4MB 95w OEM CPU
    Biostar TA790GXE AMD 790GX Socket AM3 Motherboard
    White Box 500-Watt Power Supply
Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Mid Tower Case
GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB video card
    Windows 7 32-bit

Build your own computer if you can... brand computers come with too much... 'junk' on them :)

Alienwares were never worth the price they charge, though I haven't a clue what they're being priced at these day now they've pretty much been eaten by Dell. Dell's decent enough on performance and pricing, course the main key is they give support. Though preferably building your own's still the best for the price, but not really neccessary to have a good computer.

I built mine from newegg part at a time, runs great allthough I shorted on the video cards because they were cheap, 2 SLI'd 1gig geforece 7900's, and the game works well for me, I got a quad core AMD running at 2.4 and have vista 64 with 8 gigs of ram, 1 goo gig hdd, and a DVD-RW, with case and OS ran about $800, I run full graphics though if I upgraded my video cards I could turn the lighting and shadows up more, and do the antialiasing more, I am happy for now.

Building your own isnt hard, but it also isnt allways the easiest process.

When in doubt seek knowlagable professionals for things like this.
