Did this last night and as with all the other STF its just not worth the time bothering.
It took us around 3 hours this was my first time and 2 others the other 2 had reached the ground part not sure if they passed it but they knew what we were supposed to do.
Space part is fine easy and fun the ground part was just wave after wave of Borg at one point they were all coming for us as the security escorts fell over the fence and agrroed the other mobs must have been at least 25 borg at one point lol
Still we kept on and on and finially beat them all completed to the end boss even got the accolade for running through one of the devices which someone said it gives a BO with the accolade although i see in the log i had the accoldae but no BO so might be a rumor.
we fought the ground boss took 2 attempts and we killed him was to bad no where near as hhard as infected so it dropped a purple shield the exact same shields you can get from expolre tickets and just one of the i was luncy and got the drop although no point as one im using is the one wanted anyways others got nothing after almost 3 hours they get nothing rubbish eh i think so.
Then we did the end space bit started it and one of us got bugged and couldnt move so we had to disband the team and reenter again and start the space part again took us about 30 minutes to complete this part and again the drop was exact same rubbish you can get with Explore tickets i got it again felt bad on the others but its a roll and we all had the same chance.
So tell me Cryptic why should we bother to do these only fun the first time after that there more of a pain as i can see lots of people dropping out at the end as this part was pure zerg and not the easiest of battles, the rewards are the same as the explore tickets the marks of valour items are not much better then explore tickets.
In all other MMO's the rewards for missions of this difficulty are a lot better than the average item but if we can buy these almost exact same items with daily tickets why bother doing the raids?
Yeah for the fun you say well guess what its only fun the first few times after that there a chore because there so long and lots of people bail on you when the going gets tough and when theres only one reward this just P's off the rest of the team memebrs after spending a few hours just to get a couple of greens.
So again i ask you why should we even bother doing these missions?
So just like the other two STFs then? Even the review Cryptic posted on the front page said the STFs were not worth the time they take to run.
I'm not trying to be obtuse; just trying to say that 5-man content needs major work. They are too difficult for the rewards that they give. They need to be shorter, easier, and give rewards that are worth the time alone that takes to run them.

I dont mind the difficulty just the time they take its not worth it for the crappy rewards and i always feel bad for the other team members it takes so long to do and you get nothing i think with them as they are they should be giving each member of the team at least one drop each.
Never even finished Infected and I'm not really that bummed. The more I hear about these 5mans it sounds like they should just lower the difficulty and make them soloable. Sounds like the rewards are more tuned to solo play.

The latest one the ground parts are insane swarms of borgs i do like it but for the time it takes to complete them its not worth it for valour marks or rewards considering the marks of exploration gives you practically the same item i would like to know what they were thinking give out rewards so similar to the simple daily marks rewards makes no sense what so ever.
The end game content needs alot less ground and alot more space combat. I dont care how much Star Trek did have stuff in episodes not on the ships, the majority of the community I believe wants to play in space (at least until they find a way to make ground more fun).

/signed and i know of a way to make ground combat more fun:
make it like Mass Effect II and at least i'd love it.
I like ground combat, however as it refers to STFs, the use of the word "combat" implies the use of intelligence in fighting, The raidisodes dont seem to have this.
A: What is Starfleet or the KDF for that matter sending 5 people to handle a situation where they are outnumbered 4 to 1 (havent done the math on how many borg you actually fight)
B: Its uninteresting. Fight through a bajillion waves to get to your target and kill him for something you're not going to use.
C: The only real change between one STF to the other is location.
The OP and his team completed this new STF and received rewards equal to what I can receive by just scanning 5 plants? SWEET!
Is it just me or is the dev team perception of "Risk vs. Reward" a little ... off.
--Cirdi
The OP got better rewards than you did for scanning your plant. The OP is just frustrated because the OP feels the time invested was far too much to justify the slightly better rewards for the plant scans.

The rewards i won which was the space part and the ground part were the exact same you get for daily tickets nothing at all different as it was a shield and a ship engine nothing special no extras against borg its a joke 4 hours for something you can get with one daily mission the personal shield that is and how many is the engines 52 tickets?
I wouldnt mind if they were mega fun there ok but time versus rewar is just stupid i have cancelled anyway will be back in a year playin out my last month i do like the game which is a shame.
Edit, i just checked the personal shield from the ticket vendor at the battle group and that shield has 440 max shield capacity the one i got from the reward from KAwas 400 max shield capacity all the other bonus's were the same so for one daily mission as shields are 5 tickets you get a better shield hahahaha i can do the daily in 20 minutes most days
I actually really like ground combat, and it sounds strange, but the more you do the STFs, the more you like them. My favorite one is Infected. I actually try to do that one whenever I am online.
With that said, I think they are too long. Infected seems to be the shortest, and the most fun IMHO.
They should also scale the rewards. They seem to be making each new raid more difficult than the first, yet the rewards given out do not seem to be that different. If Cryptic is trying to have loot as a bait to do the raids, they really need to make the rewards more unique. Throw out some costume piece drops, BOs (which they are going to), or a hybrid type weapon. Something unique.
I actually do not like the space parts of STFs, because they feel less tactical. They are designed so that you explode many times. It is possible to run the ground part without dying (I have done this on the Cure and Infected). In space, you cannot. So I agree with the poster who said that space needs some work.
But, like I said. I love ground combat and the raids. I am looking forward to the new Undine one which should release soon.
I have to say at one point we had well over 50 of the Borg trying to kill us. (Security escorts + one guy having to blitz from the beginning and dragging more with him = LOTS of borg).
All in all I had fun, I just don't think I can dedicate that much time to something with such limited reward. Fun factor is always the highest reward to me, but that has significantly diminished returns on repeats.
That is if you can actually finish the mission, its full of glitches ,, i have done the Khitomer accord 5 times only been able to passe it 1 time, 2 times the generator glitche , 2 times the minnions, 1 of the minnions would not spond, so no not worth it..
khitomer accord was fun, but it took me about 2 days and 8 hours playing total to complete it, there are many flaws in it, for example, if you lose a team member anywhere between the second space part and the end of the ground part (which is like 3/4 of the whole thing) then you have to start right back again in the second space part if you get a new member, who is up to the ground part, because they spawn in space and not on the ground with you.
there are also way too many borg, which wouldn't be SO BAD, if they had not increased all of the borg in the instance by 2 levels.
I actually like infected now, I think we took it for granted when it first came out, cause if you thought infected was "hard" and "Long", you ain't seen nothing yet until you try khitomer accord.
it is a very long instance, made even longer because of the borg level increase, so they take much longer to kill, it doesn't really make it harder, just longer, and more frustrating.

Without a way to have a dedicated 'trinity' with our ship skills it will always be zerg, die, respawn. Tanks can't tank...healers can't sustain heals...dps, well they got that ok...
Ground combat mitigates these lack of skills by employing LOS as your tanking mechanic...in space there is no LOS other than out of range. This likely will not change until...
A. More utility skills for each class to perform their job duties
B. LOS mechanics in space with asteroids, nebula etc.
C. They realize that dieing 15 times in part one of infected is scarring a lot of people from completing that one...let alone progressing to another.
Main thing they need to focus on is defining the roles of each ship more clearly...giving us the tools to perform in those rolls...then give us loot rewarding us for using those tools effectively.
SIDE NOTE: experience with endgame does not help considering STO doesn't have a 'dungeon' until lvl cap...this breed ill prepared players...
THERE IS A REASON WoW gives a warrior Taunt by lvl 10 and a dungeon at lvl 12.

this is why I suggested having new ship variants as drops from STF's. not the parts themselves, but "schematics" in order to build the parts at memory alpha. selling them as C-store items is such a wasted oppurtunity. if new ship variants were rewards from STF's as I suggested, there would be hundreds of people playing them. we need something we can SHOW OFF that we beat the STF. I am not talking about this elitist attitude like "haha we got this and you noobs didn't" but it's just a fact that having things other people don't is inventive to do something. it's why so many people RAID in WOW, for the awesome looking new Tier gear. so how about things like new ship variants, new uniforms, weapon skins? not just loot which looks exactly the same as everything else ingame but with some additional numbers.
how about this: for the final mission of the Borg STF storyline, have the end boss drop 3x Schematics for Cruiser/Sci/Escort ship variant parts, and (obviously) produce a cool new ship type to go with them, and DON'T sell it on the C-store.
I read through every post on this topic and I agree with most of them, the rewards for KA, The Cure, and Infected aren't worth the time, ground combat needs to be adjusted to be more enjoyable, however space tanking and taking damage isn't too bad if you have the right BOff skills on your team and take care of your team mates.

What's a ticket?
I'm not sure the discussion of "reward" is all that fruitful when the reward system isn't being accurately represented here.
JUST a guess...but...most of you doing the STF's and complaining about the end loot drops...you've never done raids in other MMOs have ya.
Cause..ya see...usually by end game in most MMOs, there's not much you can get from a drop that you don't already have something as good as, if not better then. You do them because...someone in your guild wants/needs them, it's something to do besides sitting around bsing, you're all bored and decide to do the raid naked...whatever, but it's pretty rare that someone goes in there actually thinking they'll get something better then what they already have.
Khitomer indeed is full of bugs and the ammount of time it takes to do Khitomer, you can do Cure and Infected one after the other.
Part 1: Those annoying invisible walls around the gates.
Part 2: Great farming exploit, you just have to zone out and zone back in and collect Uncommon and Rare drops. (Should pickup the game in Part 3, not Part 2).
Part 3: Console Bug, zone crash bugs, Zerg rushes of Borg drones! Yay!
But on the bright side, months down the road, Khitomer will be known as the Mission to unlock your Borg Bridge Officer (unless Cryptic changes their mind).
