Can someone please tell me why the Mutara Nebula is in Gamma Orionis and NOT in the Mutara Sector?

Because there might be a raid taking place there, I think.

It is in the Mutara Sector

I'd like to know why the Mutara-Nebula is there at all.
After the Genesis-explosion of the Relaint it was gone. It was the Material of the Nebula the Genesis-planet was "build" from. So there shouldnt be a Mutara-Nebula at all.

The Mutara Sector is in the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. The Mutara Nebula is located in the Bellatrix Sector which is also in the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. I think your question should be why is it in the Bellatrix Sector and not in the Mutara Sector. Or like FirstAngelus said, why is it there in the first place.

Well yeah there is that too.....Bellatrix being part of the constellation Orion.

Just boggles my mind is all.

Just looked this up http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Mutara_Nebula supposedly it wasn't all destroyed in the movie. Or maybe this is just a completely different nebula since there seems to be a Mutara Class of nebulas http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Mutara_class

Which brings me to a new question, where is the Regula 1 Science Space Station? I thought maybe it would be in Regulus Sector, but it's not. In fact, it's not even in game.

It would actually be located near the Mutara Nebula orbiting a planet. However no its not in game probably because there is no missions related to it. It may be added later on.

It was actually in mid space with no planet if I remember right, I thought it was close to an Asteroid? Where phase 2 of the Genesis Project took place, under ground, in the center of the Asteroid?

there isn't even a Design of a Regula One Style Spacestation.

But we have LOTS of "Houses on Asteroids".

Ok, so that was technically a planet, I figured it to be a large asteroid.

The Mutara Nebula is supposed to be in the Gamma Orionis / Bellatrix region, but it's a very large nebula. This is probably a surviving remnant of the nebula.

    Look at this map: http://booredatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Star_trek_map2.jpg

... look at the inset in the upper right, which shows the rest of that map is the rectangular blocks in the center. You can clearly see Bellatrix/Gamma Orionis and the Mutara Nebula all together. It's all "south" of the Klingon region.

Yeah I was going to say, in later movies or perhaps shows I'm sure they began referring to Mutara-class nebulas. They should probably rename it to a different nebula name though.

The quarantine was mostly to keep people off the Genesis Planet. Since that blew up shortly after the quarantine was established, it probably didn't last long.

No, look at my post above. These things are all co-located in Star Trek canon. There's no conflict.

Because on the Star Trek Maps it's around Gamma Orionis.

Actually, following the storyline of Star Trek III, it very well likely is there again. The planet died because of rapid aging caused by the use of protomatter. The star was created by the same process and presumably rapidly aged along with the planet, bloating up as a red giant star and then releasing it's envelope, creating what is called a "planetary nebula" (this is what will happen to the Sol System in 5 billion years or so).

So, the Mutara Nebula not only should be there but there should be a white dwarf star in it.

If this is the same Mutara Nebula as in Star Trek II, then why do we have to transwarp there? Didn't seem that far away from earth when Admiral Kirk took the Enterprise with a crew of cadets out there.

When the planet blew up in ST III it created a new one. Remember, Genesis was unstable sue tot he use of protomatter.

Mistakeningly enough StarFleet Janitorial Services forgot to come by and clean it after the whole Khan fiasco, leaving certain things to ferment shall-we-say. All-in-all it was decided better to nuke it and build another one else where.:p

This is precisely how we interpreted the maps as well - in addition to the fact that the nebula is very large
