Ok go easy on me here because this is my first MMO... But I'd love to know if the things I saw today really are generally acceptable or not. I did submit a behaviour ticket, but was effectively told "That's life" in a stock reply.
Without using names - three guys whom I was told were chinese farmers join the Keret Space War Zone (borg) where you win a blue rare item if you get the highest points. I'll call them A B and C for ease.
A & B use the exploit where a Federation player can get themselves onto the Klingon side. Player C stays on the Fed side.
These Fed players (A &

then attack anyone who seems to be doing well, except their team mate C, who they leave to run around and complete the objectives.
One other slight variation they ran on this tactic was for only A to use the exploit and B & C remain on the Fed side, their aim being to have B & C get 1st and 2nd place respectively with character A who used the exploit to get onto the klingon team attacking anyone who may risk those winning positions.
To me, this seems completely unfair because there is no real way to counter that significant advantage without resorting to "cheating" and doing similar things yourself. Yes you can try to out smart them, but overall they will win more because it's not a level playing field.
So really, I guess I'm just asking for different people's perspective, whatever they may be.
Comments
They 'cheat' in order to farm items - solely because there are real-life players who simply cannot run the game w/o feeling they have to be super-equipped gawds. (misspell intentional) They are not content to decide "Hey - I really want that type of gear, now....how do I earn it in the game?"
Why? Am sure there has been numerous studies on the human psyche in order to answer those sorts of questions. I would be willing to bet that if you collated all those studies, one denominator would reign - The people who obsessively do this would have similar traits in real life. They do not want to work/study for 12 hours to actually learn something - they want to buy the Cliff's notes. They do not want to work as a $9/hr cable puller to earn a shot at a better job, they want the 6 figure Senior level job in 6 months. Or less. If they can buy it.
*shrug* -- I know that I will never compete with those types in the game, and ya know. It just doesn't bother me as those types ensure I always have a steady supply of work and demand for my skills in real life.
Perspective....
I'll show you how to deal with them without the assistance of a GM.
Seriously though in those situations I try to change the instance or try again later, the zone itself is pretty dead at 3 in the morning.
Its hard enough trying to grind for items that you might want that only drop in a particular place without having to compete with the pro farmer.
Ive made a number of reports, obviously no interest there.
I guess in the long run people are entitled to play the way they want to.. but if Mythic are going to allow that type of game play they should then increase the drop rate of rare items so other players can enjoy the items without purchasing for over inflated prices on the exchange - money without doubt that is on sold for real money.
You have to ask yourself if you can buy credits for real money someone has to be selling and supplying it.
Whats there to buy that you shouldnt be able to obtain as a drop provided you can get in edge wise.
Crafting is well pfffffffft - and there is no real economy -- maybe Ill open a shop and sell batterys there seem to be a few of those around..
