I enjoy PvP much, but not a lot of variations available from what is going on currently.
So figured I would share an idea for one.
It's called "Precious Cargo".
1 minute after the map has started it, a precious cargo appears middle of the map.
First ship to come within 1km range can pick it up. If the ship gets destroyed, cargo drops at the same location of ship destroyed. Goal is to bring the ship with the cargo to your side starbase. First team to bring cargo 5 or 10 times to their side, wins.
There is a few effects from carrying the cargo(high level of radiation over time):
1. Full impulse is disabled for the duration.
2. After carrying it for 20 seconds, 1 random subsystem gets disabled for 3 seconds every 15 seconds.
3. After carrying cargo for 40 seconds, 2 random subsystems gets disabled for 3 seconds every 15 seconds.
4. After a minute, all subsystems gets disabled for 3 seconds every 15 seconds.
5. After 2 minutes, hull and shield receives increasing damage over time.
6. After 5 minutes, ship is completely destroyed from the excessive damage over time(i.e. last tick could be 100k hull damage). Of course, possible for the ship carrying cargo getting destroyed sooner from the DoT.
The distance from center to starbase would be about 1 minute at max impulse(not full impulse) with your regular escort type. This of course is how long it would take without the cargo.
Ramming speed would not be disabled. So ships can always take turns carrying the cargo. Of course, tractor beam abilities would also not be disabled either.
U would need a BO specific skill for this map, being "tractor beam" right? Or is is not the vessel but the item itself?
Tractor beams have an automated timer and can't be turned on/switched off on leisure.
So how would u circumvent this issue?
If you meant just "beaming it aboard" like an assault team, I foresee the following thing happening after the first time around;
A Klingon Carrier or a Fed Science Vessel will be "the runner" and all other teammates just heal it untill it reaches the finish.
How long would the journey take without full impulse? U can't drop the carge urself, u can't make it in time, so u are sure to die if ur not one of above mentioned classes/ships.
It is a nice idea, something new, but to easily manipulated by experiences teams I am afraid.
Sounds interesting. It would require people to use different tactics which I think is nice. Yeah you can super buff the cargo ship with all the heals and RSPs in the world to protect them... but if their engines are disabled by chronitons, tractors, and/or targeted engines, well, they aren't going anywhere. But it might not get played much, like the assault maps.
my idea is to assault a starbase. cant be bothered with putting up a whole lot of details concerning how this map should be implemented. just whant to spew the idea here. (prob not the first one to come up with something like this)

There is tons of ability that gets rid of Tractor Beam
- Tractor Beam repulsor pushes a player out of 5km range, tractor beam has no effect outside that range.
- SNB interrupts any focus ability including tractor beam.
- Killing the ship using Tractor beam also solves that issue.
- Polarize hull makes you immune to tractor beam.
- Not totally familiar with attack patterns, but there is one that makes you immune to roots.
- Ramming speed ignores for the most part tractor beam.

Perhaps not, but when people are tired of same old, they'll appreciate having more than 2 choices. And guaranteed more than half of the players will play it just so they could keep things different.

As I am still craving for a new pvp arena and I have yet seen any ideas confirmed by the devs.
Post a feedback of what you think, thanks.
