New as of today.
This is repeatable.
This only occurs when I am loading Holodeck (live), it does not occur when loading Tribble (test).
The first character trying to display is a Klingon side character. I am wondering if there is a way to force a different character to come up first?
It loads the background color, and the boarder of the character select screen, as well as some of the text. The portrait and character list do not load. It then hangs, crashes to desktop, and opens the Cryptic error dialog.
I am completely unable to log into the game at this point after multiple attempts and verify scans.
EDIT: "Safe Mode" does not resolve

I have begun including my cell number in my barrage of crash error dialog box reports. lol
Now, he is the FIRST toon displayed, and as such, I suspect he is causing the character selection load to crash.
PLEASE - can a dev or a player tell me how to change the order the characters appear in on the selection?
I am quite certain that if I can get any of my other characters to be listed first, I would be able to log in!!!
The problem:

NO DISPLAY IMAGE!!!
Of course this had to happen on a friday... *sigh*
I'm having the exact same problem.
If you can remember, look at your account in the Captain Database here: http://www.startrekonline.com/database/characters
Does that character have no portrait (a big "N/A" instead?)
I'm combing through STO and CO command lists for a character select command I might be able to use to select a different character with no display bug... no luck so far.

Go to: C:\Program Files\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\Localdata
Rename the Gameprefs.Pref file to Gameprefs.Pref.old
Run the launcher and enter the game.
You've lost all your graphics settings (kinda), but you now have the ability to play!
PS- THIS ISNT OVER, DEVS!!! PLEAS HELP US BY CODING IN A FAILSAFE FOR BAD PORTRAITS!!!
My "problem" Klingon toon is now displaying as a pasty white human in all white clothes. Don't think I'm going to play him though.
The exact same thing happens if you just delete or rename the Gameprefs.Pref file.
I'm going to post a link to this in the other character screen issue thread.
