NOTE: I'm putting this here because I don't care about faction or PvE and I didn't wanna post it twice in the Fleet Recruitment Forums, if a Mod doesn't want this here, just let me know I'll edit it.
This got a little longer than I wanted, don't read this unless you're a PvP guild looking for members!
I'm posting this as an application for a Fleet. Why am I not targeting a specific Fleet? Because I've gone through tons of recruitment posts and still haven't found one that jumps out at me. So maybe by posting this the right fleet will find me.
I have 3 toons, all Lt or LtC, I've done this because I wanted to explore different options. I do this in every MMO I play when I start. I've decided I like SCI Officer the best, mainly because I like SCI ground PvP. I prefer Escorts (Sci/Escort is awesome) but I fly what my team needs.
At this point I'm going to stop "experimenting" and make my Main toon. As I have no preference for Faction, I've decided I want to find a fleet first, see what faction they are, then create the main toon. (Yea, I'm backwards)
So I know I will be making a SCI, race/faction unknown, ship probably escort to level at first and get a sci and cruiser sometime in the Commander or Captain range to start to get a feel for all 3 ship types as I approach RA.
What I'm looking for in a Fleet:
- Primarily PvP minded, I don't mind the PvE content in this game, but it's not going to keep me here. However PvP I am REALLY enjoying, both Ground and Space.
- An Older crowd, I'm 33, wife, kids, pets, job... I would like to be in a fleet with my peers, nothing against the youngin's, I'm not that grumpy old man (yet) just a matter of preference. So 18+ or 21+ is preferred.
- Vent, Teamspeak, Skype, whatever you prefer, just gimee some Voice Comms, I'd rather TELL you I'm Sensor Scrammed then type it in.
- More Hardcore than Casual, but not "Second Job" Harcore - I understand and can comply with PvE raid schedules, (I've done 5 nights a week in 3 different games now, i'd rather not again though) I can handle a mandatory raid or 2 per week, might actually prefer it.
- Prefer small to mid sized guild. If you're pushing 50 members or more, you're probably a bit too large. I like to get to know people and work often with the same folks so we get used to operating together. You get too many people in guild and it makes it tougher to routinely work with the same ppl. 20-35 is probably optimal for this game as most stuff at this point seems focused on 5 or 10 man teams.
What a fleet can expect from me:
- MMO Experience - My first "mmos" we're text based MUDs long before Raph Koster worked on Ultima Online. In fact I played Raph Koster's MUD before people paid him to be a genius game developer. I've even written a little code for Diku and ROM based MUDs in my day. I have played Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, Everquest, Phantasy Star Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy 11, Rappelz, WoW, Horizon, Vanguard, WAR, DnD Online, and now STO.
- End Game Experience - I have been a part of end game content in SWG, FFXI, WoW and WAR. I have been an officer or leader of an End Game Guild in SWG, FFXI and WoW. With STO however I want no additional responsibility beyond knowing my job, showing up when I'm supposed to, and being a good fleet-mate.
- Knowledgable - I'm a number cruncher and part time Theory Crafter. I'm still learning STO but with any MMO I play, I make it my goal to know every commonly used Job/Spec (in this case Officer/Ship/BO skill) combo. This does two things: 1) I can help guildies who are learning/struggling with a setup if I feel comfortable in my level of research. 2) It's hard to beat me in PvP if I know how to play your setup better than you do.
- Reliable - If I say I'll be on at 8PM EST, I'll be on at 8PM EST. If for whatever reason I'm not going to be, I'll make sure leadership knows that I can't make it as soon as I know. Basically, the question "Where the hell is he?" shouldn't be referring to me.
- Drama-Free - I get a little ornery, but I never mean any harm. I can also be a bit gruff and blunt at times, but I'm generally an easy person to get along with.
If you think I'd be a good fit for your guild send me a PM on the forums.
