Head Count anyone??

Hi Everyone. I have been playing for since CB and have seen some really strong numbers ingame at points. However over the past 2 weeks i have seen a dramastic decrease in the number of players online. For example Sol Station currently has not seen more than 3 shards each time i have been on. Thats max 30 people. This is counter to the some 10+ shards a couple of weeks ago, This is also a case in the borg sector. No where i go now seems ot have over 4-5 shards max. I am starting to feel like all the other captins got killed or perhaps the spanish inquisition is back>? As such am firstly wondering if anyone is feeling this way? Secondly a roll call would be good?? lol Nice to see there are other people about even if it is Star Trek Forums Online. :)

Still just enough people to complain about everything in the game and not actually appreciate the fun aspects.

You do realize what your asking.....very hard to gauge IMO

I've been in areas where it seemed a chore just to float by a group scattered around a system. Could easily count past 30 in such a case.

But if it is indeed declining.........eh...more breathing room.

You mean a max of 135 people don't you?

Yes I've seen small shards too...with 45 in each.

perhaps people other than me played a lot, and for long periods, and got a repetitive stress injury from the darn spacebar. rofl, seriously, i'm older and already have arthritis but i'm typing this one handed. attn cryptic please turn on Autofire /doh

otherwise even the most devout fan has to realize there is moire 'hope' in the game than 'game'

I was thinking this myself yesterday, first time ive flown through sector space and didnt hardly see anyone else.

Im enjoying the game for the most part but it just doesn't seem to be deep enough at all, when I first started playing swg I was hooked when I wasn't on I was thinking about the game, but here I play for a maximum of about an hour a day, maybe a lot of others are as well?

No sorry, i mean i have counted the number of people in the shards. The max has been 30 odd people at Sol, thats across them all. I know the shards are max 50 but they seem to devide whats left up into the constant shards ( i think thats 1,2,3) reguardless of howmany are one. Therefore you could have 3 people online and it would appear to put each person in each shard etc. Anyhow i really mean i havnt counted anymore than 50 people between the shards of late. Maybe its when iam on GMT 12-8?? is that low usage maybe?

I can't speak for others, but for myself I have't played for some time. I bought the lifetime subscription and once I hit Admiral there was just nothing to do. I've backed off playing figured I'd come back later when some of the bugs were worked out and some new features added. Obviously I'm currently thinking of coming back to play a bit, but I suspect there are others like myself that found game play a bit lacking and are just giving it a break. The big question is how long a break will players give it.

i also have been taking a break hoping for some more to do at RA5 cuz right now with being in a small fleet

joining random pug STF's is not my idea of fun at all so hopefully they add more stuff.

occasionally i hop on my klink to try and level that one but 78 skill pts for quests .....hell with that

I suspect a lot of people played hard and are now taking a break. I don't think it's that unusual for a new MMO.

Personally, I hit RA5 and then had the "now what?" reaction most did, but I kept at the dailies, then discovered PVP and I'm having fun again. Once I get a few more pieces of equipment, I'll stop the dailies altogether and just do PVP and fleet actions, and hang out with fleet friends, probably.

Eh that's how I'm doing it.... got to Admiral on one toon, close to RA on another... the game pretty much makes you much through all the content to max out your level, if it were more dynamic and had multiple ways to level like most mmos (not talking about PVP either) then I'd probably still be playing. So i figure I'll finish this one last toon to RA and go back to playing wow or something for a year, come back when the game looks like it can hold my interest for more then a month. >.>

Yep, I'm another one who made it to RA way too quickly and now have very little interest in playing any more. I find the PVP to be very frustrating and the exploration is a total joke, so when I do play I usually only do it to help out lower level players with missions.

But I just realized that if I do that then they will reach Rear Admiral too an not have anything to do either, oh well that's their problem.

It does seem that this game is haemorrhaging players, my fleet a couple weeks ago would usually have a dozen players online at a time, now it is often just me.

I guess that is what happens when you release an unfinished empty shell of a game, way to go Cryptic.

Maybe if the Star Trek franchise survives, a better Star Trek online will be released by another developer in a few years.:)

the rush and crash happens in all things- but in gaming it would be more pronounced because the audience
is mostly young people and they move on- get bored - grow up

    of course alot left.

there are also many that reached the cap early

    both cases are the same

    both typres are the same

rather just trek people be here anywho

Both cases are the same? Both types are the same? I don't follow what you're saying. I have 3x RA5 with one of each type. I don't play as often as I did while levelling my first character, or second, but that is due to lack of things to do. There is no purpose to slowing down how I play to drag out the game and after doing all the missions three times, sometimes more thanks to open beta.

I have only STFs to repeat, B'Tran to repeat or PvP. I do these when I feel the need but that isn't enough to justify the monthly cost for me. I would count myself as a Star Trek fan but it's hard to justify paying for something I either don't enjoy or don't play. In time I'm sure more content will come but I'm unwilling to pay while I wait for that to come along. Money is tight for some, myself being one of them, and every penny counts.

i have not played in a few weeks now. once the "rewards" for the instances came out i was really bummed. i see no reason to do the instances cause well they are stupid hard take a really long time and you get stupid points for anit borg gear wooo hooo, pthhhhhh. i like the game i just ran out of things to do. im hopping that changes sometime soon.

I think its s simple case of Boredom, many people have max out there Characters, And the people who have Admiral 5's already do not see any time on the horizon, being able to go to Admiral 10, or what every they will set it to. This was a big mistake, and what happens when you release a MMO before it was ready. So what is happening is you are losing players, in droves, Why? who wants to pay every month for NOTHING! Criptic don't want people to know this though. But it's very obvious. Even though I love this game and see all it potential, the devs are not working fast enough to keep peoples interest, over the next few months it could be the death of the game if something does not change, and very quickly!

if you don't pvp then i guess your right

but why would you join an mmo without wanting to pvp?

the only difference in an mmo and a sp is more people

in essence clunk heads that want oblivion type content - or any other types - that last about three months at max- makes no sense

    those that leave should leave

    not needed

I beg to differ, players even get Bored with pvp... peronally I think criptic need to pull out all the stops, to keep players, even though I love the game, I think its dommed if they don't, I would hate to see it, but already the numbers are gong down down down...

I haven't played in about 2 weeks. Haven't been able to motivate myself to level my Science captain the last 6 or 7 levels to RA, because then I'd just have two RA5's with, well, nothing to do.

Perhaps by Episode 2, we'll have something to work with.

I log in for about 20 mins a day if i feel like doing my dailys that is. I run fleet actions about once a week with my fleet but thats it now. PVP is boring as heck with no reward worth having and there is no PVE content left. So i can totally understand why u havnt been able ot bring yourself to play. I only feel now like i am complaining constantly about this game. I really dotn want to and i want this game to be a success. It just isnt!!

i agree, i want this game to be successful as well but i am losing interest in the raids (end game content). it takes way to long to get 4 more people to join you. only for someone to leave. i usually go on STO to do my dailies but yesterday did not finish. got bored.

but i love this game; just need more to do.

i know i need to wait but do not want to pay to wait.... and yes i have notated the numbers of players have fallen. (BIG TIME ! )

Really hard to tell how many ppl still are playing the game. What i have seen though is a sharp drop in the amount of ppl who are pvping. I used to be able to que up and in a few min get a game. It seems now it can take sometime now before i do. It could be that still many Feds are playing and less Klingons or ppl have just stopped pvping...

The main prob is this game was released WAY before it was ready. But, there are other probs also. Cryptic seems to be more interested in adding eye candy and stuff to the C-store over fixing stuff and adding content. The few bits and pieces of content they are giving get eaten up in 1-2 weeks and ppl are bored once agian.

I've been taking a break recently cos I was home with my parents and can't game there anyways. And then, I had to log into LotRO to farm some money for my house there, so had no time to play STO. Besides, I'm in no rush to get to max level. I got a LTS, the game's still gonna be around later, so why rush it? I got many other hobbies and they all had to take a backseat during the first two months of STO. Now, STO is taking a backseat to some of my other hobbies that are my top priority at the moment. I'll be back.

I just logged on for a bit and SB1 was pretty empty. Of course primetime US is really just starting up, so that probably isn't a good indicator. I do know that a good chunk of regulars in my fleet are no longer playing, even some that were around when the fleet formed up on the forums.
