Some reason the game logged me out and now when I try to log back in it says "unable to authenticate" .... the server status says "up" so I am not sure what the heck is going on. Any ideas? Any other people having the same problem? IS this a settings issue or something? Arg! lol I was just getting addicted too!

I was able to log in earlier today. However for the past hour I was unable to load launcher and unable to view or load the startrekonline website. I disabled my router, connected to internet through modem and was able to load the launcher, as well as the website.
However I am now receiving this same message, 'unable to authenticate'. What's up?

Still can't login, has anyone had any success or tried anything different? I'm running win 7 ultimate and made sure I am running the launcher as admin, but that shouldnt really matter.

Whenever I have free time to play, the game always seems either down or something like this happens. With other MMO's under there belt you would think they would have a fix for these issues or at the very least have someone watching the message board.

How do I go abouts making a ticket for this issue?

    Thanks!

you can open a ticket by going to : http://www.startrekonline.com/support

The ticket system is strange in that you have to do a search first before you can create a new ticket.

    also do a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
    and d/l the nettest
    Nettest:
    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

good lag free connection should be Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate).
post the results here and include them in the ticket.

I beleive the auth servers use port 7003 or 7004 so if those ports get blocked or delayed then it could affect getting authorized.

also if you are using any proxy option switch to the other proxy or none . there could be a problem on the proxy server. It has been know to get overworked.

Here is my nettest and I never have lag or connection problems. But then I'm in the states and using a different routing than you may be using.

    arg!

besure you have the nettest set to run as admin if using vista or win7 and it is allowed net access by your firewall and antivirus netnanny windows defender or any other net guard program.

I have been having the same issue all afternoon. And as for this complete ******** about checking connections and all that... USELESS. How does that fix anything?!?! It doesn't! This is just another example of how Cryptic studios is not up to the task of handling an MMO. Someone please suggest a real solution or don't bother!

What I don't understand is why some people are able to log into and play still. It's messed up!

I am in Canada as well, obviously we all have internet connections just not able to connect to the game server. Maybe that is the problem... server, not servers... tbh I have no idea what the problem is but this lack of assistance by Cryptic (nothing new there) is adding to my frustration.

I'm also in canada on shaw cable, so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm trying to get into this game and can only play it 2 or 3 times a week - seems every time i set aside some spare time i see these issues far too regularly. Been trying 40 minutes now to play a game that i only had an hour of free time to play!?!?!

    Uggghh!!!

Ive had this problem all afternoon. Ive bee non a lot of other net systems, so its not me.

Lets see if we are dealing with a problem of the internet itself. they had a problem with a European ISP not transferring data right and knocking a whole bunch of folks offline a couple of weeks ago. lets see if we have another ham handed ISP TRIBBLE with packet shaping.

Im in Victoria BC. on shaw cable

First time i have to call Shaw cause they are the problem.

Im on hold trying to get through to the customer support team. At least during the CRTC hearing shaw fully admitted that it does packet shaping and gave details as to how and why. The rest of the Canadian ISP gave the standard legal ******** answer that meant bugger off.

Let see how many of us calling at the same time can wake them up.
