Hi Guys, trying to play pvp with mixed results.
I could do with a hand with recognising abilities and their counters.
I.e. What I have been hit with and what defenses the enemy are using.
I know a few and can recognise them easily but the others im a bit lost.
Viral Matrix - purple type fireworks - can be countered by science team.
Scramble Sensors - green particle burst - can be countered ??
Tractor Beam - Beam of white (I think) - Can be countered with Polorize Hull
If you search around, there is a post from faithborn dedicaded to that. Im sure he will bump this and link it to you, when he notices. It should have been a stickl long ago.
Oh and Reverse shield Polarity is actually green circle.
Hi Dalnar, tthanks for your reply.
Shortly after posting I found faithbornes post (great post btw) and filled in a lot of gaps.
It helps you understand what counters what once you know what you have been hit with but doesnt help with recognising what you have been hit with, if that makes sense.
The more you play, the more you will get used to it. You may also ask the person using that, most will answer politely. Anyway, just play, enjoy the pvp, dont stress yourself too much from it, and you will eventually find out all info you need.
Just dont get discouraged, even those who claim to be pros now, were nubs before. SO just ignore those, "oh lol" people The ignore list in this game can be pretty long
so is there nothing to combat SNB? - just death to look forward to?
nope nothing u can do about this stinking combo (SNB+VM). i like pvp alot in this game, but this one is realy ***ked up. IMO the only combo they need to hit with a big nerfhammer. and i find people using this combo to be griefers with no skill what so ever.
We should not need to guess what is affecting us, especially since Star Trek is all about sensors, computer databases, and technobabble. All buffs/debuffs should be recorded in the CombatLog (both chat display and log file), but currently they are not.
My counter to snb, is if I know a pilot has it and I see that ship start pointing its nose at me, I either activate rsp or evasive and run. In the heat of battle though they sometimes get me off guard; me living usually depends on if they pumped power into aux before subnuke. If you pvp a lot in the same tier you will start to recognize players and their capabilities. Since I have subnuke too I have to be extra careful because fed sci ships will try to neurtralize me. It is a twofold battle team v team and sci v sci. If I see a sci ship re-entering the battle I have to drop my current target and immediately engage them or risk being killed.
All you can really hope to do is stay out of the their forward arc, either using evasive, tractor beams, tractor repulsors or jamming them.
