i have a bop with only a couple of heals and sadly i all to often see i am near the top of the healing lists, sometimes the top. Granted a lot of that will have gone towards keeping my sorry TRIBBLE alive but i see cruisers with what i can only consider pitiful heal amonts.
I have seen some cruisers on both sides do some incredible work keeping themselves and others up, if they can do it, then it just shows it can be done. Next time you are in a group with one of those try asking them what they do, you will find most of the time it is not magic. There is a surprisingly small step between a bad player and a decent player and a decent player and a good player.
Good dps is required, but good cruisers win games.

That is not true... I've been in several matches where a cruiser more than survived an attack by me and other Escorts pounding its shield, and yet it still took us out.
It depends how you like to fight. A cruiser is a tough nut to crack, but its damage output is less than an escort. I you like to burst down an opponent use an escort, if you like slowly grinding down the opposition then a cruiser is for you.
I also find that a cruiser works best with informal pugs while an escort works best as part of a co-ordinated wolf pack.

I'll bet a substantial sum of money that an all Escort group would be vastly more effective than the average Fed pug configuration. Do you have any idea how fast ships blow up, even under RSP, from the combined fire of two or more Escorts rolling cooldowns?
The only FvK games that I lose (I play Klingon) are those in which the Fed team has 4 or more Escorts with competent pilots.
I'll bet a substantial sum of money that an all Escort group would be vastly more effective than the average Fed pug configuration. Do you have any idea how fast ships blow up, even under RSP, from the combined fire of two or more Escorts rolling cooldowns?

in all seriousness, all that a klink team needs to do to win against an all escort team is SNB the highest dps guy, crack him in 3 seconds, and then spike down the rest of the targets. If done right it should take 10 seconds TOPS before the entire team is dead.
Klinks have the advantage of the first strike, if they cannot capitalize on that then it is their fault.

Eschewing the use of science ships for another escort is simply bad tactics.
