So FBP is getting re-tuned and 50% damage goes to shields and 50% goes to hull. Also resist will factor into the damage taken from FBP. Interesting indeed. So beam users will no longer take massive damage. But what's this? Cannons and Turrets will be reflected back as well as beams now?

With the amount of damage I've seen escorts churn out I'm pretty sure that even with 50% of the damage going to their hull it's going to be "Time to die you!... what just happened?" Tribble does not have this up so I cannot test it to see what effects it will actually have on Escorts who pop all their cooldowns and go for the kill. However I can speculate that even a BoP with two science consoles will be able to vaporize these little suckers.

Here is a vid of some 10 and 11k FBP hits vs. 250 arc beams. Beams that hit nowhere near as hard as DHC's. Some would argue that they don't even hit for half of what DHC's hit for. So the numbers vs. an Escort will probably be around the same considering resist will be in effect. Again without the ability to actually test this I cannot say for certain what the numbers will be. Though I can say that this video is a great example of why FBP is getting changed. Enjoy

Keep in mind that the changes to FBP also decrease the damage reflected so that it will be equal to the incoming dmg when FBP III is totally maxed out. As it is currently, the reflected dmg is up to 400% higher than the incident attack.

So it might not be as bad for cannon users as you are suggesting, but it will be nice to see that skill affect more than just beam users (in fact most folks probably won't waste it on someone who is just using beams). :)

Also funny to have 4 Reverse Shield Polaritys on a BoP. :)

Ya that setup is for when I run cap-n-hold without fleet mates. People see a BoP and cannot help but dive into it. That video was a prime example. 4 RSP's and Emergency power to Aux / Weps. When I put full power to weapons to fight Escorts 1v1 it usually ends up with me winning anyway, since I have more RSP's. Target shields is the only thing that really causes that setup any problems. Though target shields will cause any solo setup problems :-/

So, where are now the people that want to tell me that a BoP offer no advantages over a Fed escort. :D

    RSP FTW!

Please read the post again. I praised FBP and said Escorts are no problem even now without the buff. With the buff they are going to die even easier

    What buff?

    According to snix (QA):

    Feedback Pulse
Goal: This ability can be used to augment DPS by reflecting your opponents directed energy attacks, as well as a deterrent in PvP if currently the main target of a group.

    Changes:
    • Reflects all directed energy types (beams, cannons, turrets)
    • Feedback Pulse is now an energy type, buffed and resisted as other damage types
    • Feedback Pulse reflected damage hits shields first, but does have 50% shield penetration
    • Overall reflected damage reduced, where best reflection at version III is about equal to source damage
Countered By: Subnucleonic Beam removes buff, projectile weapon or indirect damage ignores it
As I read it, that is 3 fundamental nerfs to its damage output:

    1) Energy type that can be resisted.
    2) Hits shields first (at 50% shield penetration).
    3) Damage multipliers removed (changed from 400% to 100% -at best-, max rank and stats).

Where is the buff? The fact that it will affect all energy weapons (and, therefore, all ships)? Damage is still heavily reduced.

(Note that I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with these changes in this post.)

Seems like the op is ignoring number 3 in that list. I tried to point that out but I guess I wasn't clear. /shrug

I don't see this as a buff to FBP. It is being made weaker but less situational. I guess it's sort of a buff for federation FBP users (since most klingons use cannons), but it has to be seen as a nerf to klingon FBP users then. Buff, nerf, lateral adjustment? I guess that would depend on who's perspective you look at it from.

Objectively, I think it's an improvement to balance.

Actually that damage adjustment has already been applied to FBP. Before the season one update, FBP 3 did 300% reflect damage. The season one update changed FBP 3 to do 100% reflect damage.

Oh, I missed that in the patch notes. I wonder why snix listed it as an upcoming change instead of one that was already implemented.

If the damage is indeed already changed, then I guess the upcoming changes can be seen as a buff to FBP.

Anyone else can confirm that the dmg reflection has already been changed?
