I'm rapidly losing faith in Cryptic. Repetetive missions, no orignial content, server issues. Come month's end, if this isn't fixed, I'm not renewing my subscription.
I was just starting in a Fleet Action on DS9 and then I was disconnected with no warning. However, I do see a Server Status message Undergoing Maintenance.
I'm down AGAIN!! Yesterday SHAW had some type of router problem and lasted for about 10-12hrs for most of Canada. Maybe it happened again. Regardless I haven't had so many server issues with this specific game, either it be ISP or Internal Game Teams. I'm Frustrated, Disappointed and almost ready to move on.:(
EDIT NOTE: I just saw the sever light go red. NEWS says Sever is Down Unexpectedly.
It would be nice if Cryptic could keep the servers running. And actually have the scheduled down time occur not the day before the real downtime day! And also CRYPTIC it would be nice if you would comment in the forums about whats going on. There might be a posting but I havent seen one so far.
I am having this exact same issue. I opened a ticket also.
In the beginning, I felt somewhat comforted that STO had two access points to Tech Support (plus multiple forums). I'm coming to the end of my first month and by now have already learned...STO support doesn't really exist...in any "supportive manner". Oh, you'll get an automated response when you report a "bug"... Read that response sometime....it's the slickest, boldest disclaimer I've seen to date. Basically, don't get your hopes up about receiving true help when you encounter bugs.
If you send a "bug related" ticket to the GM folks...(hoping actual human eyes will read it) they're nice enough, but they'll merely forward your ticket to the "Bugs Department"...and you'll never hear from them again; or so the "veterans" have said.
At the exchange in the SOL System starbase, I paid-out 250,000 credits for an item. The exchange deducted the 250,000 (yup...250 thousand) credits, and I didn't get diddly in return. Weeks worth of fighting battles, taking prizes and selling them...down the drain and nothing to show for it.
The tech people were very apologetic...even kind...but as for true remedies...forget it, my friend.
I've encountered issues where I've "purchased" Plasma and Tetryon Dual Canons; having spent HOURS in PvP earning the credits to do so, only to discover they won't install on my ship. (And yes, I'm very much aware of the requisites and restraints regaridng Fore vs. Aft weapons installation, not to mention "Rank" requirements.)
Maybe someday, Cryptic will actually get a clue...that they're not providing the customer service we have paid for. But; from speaking with the "vets" of STO...I wouldn't count on it or hold my breath.
Sure, STO is an excellent game...and it is new. Having spent roughly 30 years as a professional computer technician/programmer/commuications specialist, I realize new programming and coordinating new hardware configs against increasing demand is tough. Then again, on the part of Cryptic...I see a true apathy and absence of true "support", obvious lack of planning (growth/ increasing numbers of users) and poor excuses given....typically.
I've read many threads where users....buyers of the STO product...we the people whom pay their bills/paycheck...are saddened, frustrated...some even angry. Perhaps the Support techs need more time to tweek the game/servers/system...who knows. The only certainty is that STO will become a classic supernova...brilliant at first, fading to a black hole, unless they get their act together, quickly.
The gaming magazines and websites have been hammering STO/Cryptic/Atari steadily since Season 1 began. People read and they visit websites... If STO fails.....those of us whom have been IGNORED...will know why.
The servers aren't down for maintenance. That's just the default message the website gives whenever the servers are down for whatever reason. The maintenance is scheduled for 3:00 A.M., PST. This is a straight-up server crash.
I wont be as nice as StarshipKiller was in his post. From day 1 I have experienced crashes to character select, server not responding, log in server errors, zoning problems, bugged missions, and server crashes.
I understand its a new game, I can even understand crashing to log in every once in a while. BUT crashing several times in an hour during a game session is BS. I have to agree 100% with StarshipKiller's comments about STO Support. By far the biggest cluster f*** I have ever seen by an MMO company. I have posted tickets being stuck on a bugged mission only to be ignored for 24hrs or longer. With other MMOs I normally get a response within 15 to 30 min. and problems solved and I complete the mission.
Cryptic you have a VERY serious problem and you need to fix it NOW! Beyond the complete lack of Support and crash issues is game content and the lack of. This is not a suprise to me though. This is the norm of Cryptic and the repeating maps/missions. CoH/CoV was the same way. Best thing that happened to that game was NCsoft. Maybe they would be interested in taking another MMO off Cryptic's hands.
They did. Not only did they update the thing at the top of the website that shows online status, but they also had a forum thread.
When you have problems connecting, I recommend you first check the website to see if the server is down, and then read the Dev Tracker to see if there are any posts about it.
Hey all, I was purusing the forum looking for my post on this issue. I didn't wanna inject any venom....(pulls on flame retardant clothing) actually i wanted to thank the CS team for responding to my ticket and trying to help me. Ultimately the 4/13 patch solved the problem for me, if you haven't had any luck and haven't tried to log in yet...try. Also please try to bear in mind, the CS team is small compared to the player base, and the few who post on the boards only represent a tiny slice of those who are experiancing the problem. BE PATIENT, please....spewing venom about a problem not being resolved 1hr after you post it is the fastest way to make the devs ignore a thread, the bigger the problem the harder it is to fix.

Anyone else using AT&T? Maybe it is with them.
Ugh, and it is during prime-time play.

Are you "listening" Cryptic?
