So since the patch there have been a few threads here about how overpowered escorts or cannons or escorts with certain cannons are. Yes escorts do a lot of damage, that's what they are for but we go pop much easier than any other type of ship.

What is finally getting under my skin are the posts that sound like this " I fly an X type ship as an X type captain with X type abilities . These are all fine and are in no way overpowered or in need of nerfing but I keep dying and I want the devs. to fix it by nerfing everything that kills me."

So devs. if you read this please leave my escort alone :D

    Everyone has the same problem of getting blown up fast not just one or the other. Any ship fight 3 or more either Feds or Klings in any pvp get wasted. 2 anyone can work on but it still doesn't mean you can take on both.

    I know it appears sometimes that you did all the damage and that is what took me out, but really to be fair one of your buddies were also there helping and same when we are after you it's not the effort of just one it is the effort of many that get the job done.

    On the NPC side there are some real tough groups of NPC's out there that if you aren't watching closely can manage to pop you as well.

    Afraid Escorts are a bit too OP.

    There is a saying in the world of MMO:
    "Be afraid of the nerf bat when your playing the exact same thing as everyone else."

    In otherwords, Devs likes diversity, players likes diversity. At the present time, escorts are looking better than any other ships. And more and more players are rolling them. Which can only mean 1 thing, Cryptic will eventually come up with a nerf or a tweak to prevent the Escort of being so much a favorite class. And the longer they wait, the harder the nerf since they'll have to compensate for a surplus of players playing as them.

    So as much as you want your escort to be left alone, you should instead ask them to nerf you asap. The longer before the "nerf bat" hits you, the harder it will.

    P.S.: All MMOs follows this very same rule, overpowered or not. They never allow 1 specific class to be over played amongst the community.

    You're right Pete. The longer the wait the more it will effect us escorts. I just don't see us as being overpowered. We die so fast if we don't have healers healing or the right buffs popped at the right time. The later can be said about all classes. The only ships I have a chance of destroying with any amount of quickness is another escort. Good cruiser captains can have there shields back up before my quantums hit. Science ships I can barely get through there shields at all.

    The only situation in which damage is really out of control is when you combine the following things:

    1. Dual (or Dual Heavy) Cannons

    2. Rapid Fire

    3. At least three of AP:Alpha / Beta / Omega, Emergency Power to Weapons, High Yield, Beam Overload, Fire on My Mark, Go Down Fighting, Sensor Scan, etc - any BOff or Captain power that directly increases your damage output or directly reduces a target's defenses

    The stacking of offensive powers, combined with the new damage output of dual cannons, is what creates the overwhelming and nigh-indefensible burst damage that people complain about. It's only an Escort problem because Escorts (and Raptors / BoPs) are the only class of ship with access to enough Tac powers to do this in the first place.

    Cannons don't need to be nerfed. No individual Tac power needs to be nerfed (although Rapid Fire is probably still too strong). The stacking of multiple offensive buffs to triple or quadruple a ship's normal damage output is broken, and needs to be fixed. Doing that will address most of the issues.

    The game needs to play at a speed so the guy at your tactical station can say things like Worf did in all those TNG episodes. Shields are down to 80%, captain. Shields at 60% captain.

    Right now, Worf couldn't open his mouth before his butt, along with his ship and crew, are reduced to a vapor stain in space.

    Hahah, definitely. Damage by all ships and the survivability of all ships needs to be balanced better.

    How about this: i get the same Dmg done with my Raptor as your Escort and i don't call for a nerf ? :D
    Escorts are way OP as it is right now. Balanc or get nerfed...simple as it is.........

    Escorts aren't OP, DPS is OP. The only reason escorts seem OP is that they deliver a lot of DPS.

    The solution isn't to nerf escorts, but to buff everyone's survivability. While escorts are one of the ships which can vaporize others in 5 seconds, escorts are also a frequent victim of the 5 second kill.

    I have a mix of double and dual heavy disruptors, which I frequently combine with attack Alpha/Omega and cannon rapid fire. This allows me, if I get it right, to get awfully close to killing an opponent provided he lets me fire at him for about 10 seconds or so. By the end of that time everything is on recharge, and I'm pretty vulnerable, so if the Klingon group is working together, at the very least, I'm in big trouble but might have 1 kill.

    If the klingon group doesn't have its act together then I get left alone long enough to recharge...and it's rinse and repeat. If, while I'm gunning your team mate, you are busy hitting me then by the time your guy is on the ropes I'm a smoking ruin.

    You have one big advantage over me - I find it quite hard to figure out which way I'm pointing sometimes, thanks to the lack of a proper 'chase' camera, Klingons that change relative angle quickly are hard to shred as a consequence. Those that come in high/low enough to stay out of my firing arcs are safe too - thanks to lack of 360 movement you can sit on top of me all day, and only my tail beam array can touch you.

    I don't think you should nerf my cannon, unless you are prepared to give me better shields... if you take away my bite then my survivability will have to go up.

    Want to nerf Escorts? Remove Cloak from game first or give it to Escorts.

    Sorry but rapid fire cannons are completely out of control. I respecced today from my cruiser to an escort (Which I was before patch) and went 22 and 1 against klinks in only one of my first few games. That is solo I might add with no team coordination or anything.

    When you can insta gib a player before they can even react the game just becomes dull and not fun. Yes your dps should be high no we should not be able to destroy cruisers in one pass.
