I posted a thread in the Discussion forum that I had intended to put in the Feedback section: Controls and UI, which would be a more appropriate section for the thread.
How do I go about contacting a Forum Moderator and getting that thread moved to the proper section, since it is against forum rules to double post?
See that little yellow triangle on the left side of the screen? The one that's under your name, right beside the word "offline"? Yeah that one.
Click on it to report the post to a moderator. You even get a little box to explain why you're reporting it.
Don't expect anything to happen for a day or three though, that's how long it usually takes for them to respond to report. My guess is that with the enormous number of trolls and idiots on this forum they're probably swamped with reports.

Thank you. I thought that was just for Reporting Posts for violations. Silly me.
Oh wait! It is.
Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

You just did! So which one of your threads is it?
BTW - for future reference, the official way to actually contact a mod on any issue, is to send an email to community@crypticstudios.com.
That would require someone reading them, much less replying to them.
They do both, actually! We get a lot of emails in that box, so it can take awhile sometimes, but every single email to community@crypticstudios.com is read.

Y'know, I've thought about this more. This probably IS the best method of getting a hold of a mod for something like this, and it isn't a violation. Let me explain why:
Technically speaking, making an "off-topic" post, by posting something in an inappropriate sub-forum, is a violation of the forum policy. That doesn't mean you'd get an infraction for it, it's pretty minor, we'd only take infractory (is that a word?) action against someone who is seriously abusing this.
However, that DOES mean that, being a violation of the forum policy, it is easily within the scope of the "Report Post" function. Just make sure, when you're writing up your description of why it's being reported, that you mention something along the lines of "I started this thread, and only then realized it should be in this sub-forum instead." so whoever handles the report understands that they should not give you infraction points for the report.
Finally, and I can't stress this enough, if you ever receive an actual infraction for reporting a post you'd simply like moved, let me know. Unless it's an extreme case, it would be pretty silly for anyone to get an actual infraction for this sort of thing.

Any other ideas?

Politely ask them to forward it to the appropriate person if they aren't the one.
Edit:
Look through the Dev Tracker, see who seems most often to handle that sort of thing, and try them.
