Escaping

I was in PVP we were attacking another Fed ship and they went right into full impulse. We chase him down for 10 min attacking and every time he was under attack he would go right into full impulse. Is there a skill or something I'm missing because I couldn't get into full impulse as much or as often in a combat situation as this guy. The ship was a fleet escort. Thanks for the help.

    /im guessing they put all power to engines and went into evasive, That little move can take a ship to little over impulse speeds while still in combat.

    I really doubt it was full impulse, in fact I am sure of it. How about Evasive Maneuvers plus an Engine Battery or Emergency Power to Engines, or even just changing to 100% engine power? All of those things help to give a speed boost, while combining just EM and Engine Battery will get you out of range of the enemy in a VERY short period of time. I use it often to escape in my BoP. I suspect it was something like that rather than full impulse.

    -High engine settings
    -fast engines equiped
    -emergency powers to engines.
    -evasive maneuvers
    -ramming speed

    For example my escort has the speed of 34 in normal combat, while i have seen others with 16 impulse speed. No wonder most people equiped with mk IV efficient "slug" engines, and 25 base engines power, cant catch people, who relly on speed.

    I was also in an escort and I was using ramming speed and evasive manuvers and he was so fast a getting away that he would get out side my sensor range(30km). I have to wait to go into full impulse me and my brother chase him down and attack and every time his shield was low he would fly way. I can keep up with most ships but this was crazy.

    Than it was emergency power to engine I. A mockery to slugs.
