Launcher crash..again and again and.......

I'm posting this here in the hope that it'll engender a fix. This is the text from my latest error ticket, I've tried not to turn it into a 'Snot-o-Gram' but it was hard to resist the temptation, as the only thing I've been able to do with STO in the past few days is write these missives. Not what I paid a lifetime membership for!

"Launcher crashes on loading. This has been happening constantly since last week, and
is now at the point where I'm unable to play at all. Most of the time the error ticket has no ID just 'unknown' and has never been awnsered.
I've used ever trick that has been listed on the forum to try to resolve this, but no luck.
As this ticket has a number (4540970) I hope it'll generate a reply from you guys.
Please don't tell me it's a problem with my graphics/settings/firwalls/router (as I have
tried every configuration going)
There is no problem running the other games and applications on the web, and even STO, before
these latest patches were downloaded over the last 10 days.
STO is the only program that has, and is, giving me grief."

That's it.
For those interested here's my spec's. I feel that if STO won't run on this setup then there's little hope.

At which point is it crashing as soon as you click on the desktop shortcut. when you enter your username and password , at the patching.
One thing to check. see if you have a file in the directory with a name that has deleteme in it. try to rename or move to a different direcory if it exists.

    Thanks for the reply PegasusMD.
Usually it'll crash after the username/password is entered and put up the error ticket window, sometimes with a ref No, but mostly "Unknown" .
Occasionally it will go to the patch window, complete the patch and hang there. The "patch" button won't change to "Engage".
Lastly, I have got as far as logging into the name server, but timed out. Then it's usually back to square one.

No file found that has deleteme in it.
I noticed a new post that has a link to a new launcher d/l and will give that a try.
    Thanks again.

Oh! and the error ticket always has the same ref number 4540970, if it's not "unknown".

Looks like something weird in MSHTML, might be worth forcing an IE reinstall.

Thanks Coderanger, I'll give that a go.
FYI I did do a force verify an hour ago and managed to get into the game, I'm not sure why it worked that time as I've tried that alot. Unfortunatly I got disconnected and am back with the same old problem again.

Just another quirk, that might or might not be something. The launcher is still crashing, but I noticed that the server icon is showing "UP", when according to the update it's supposed to be "Down" right now. Is this another bug in the launcher or have I got my time zones mangled.

try seeing if setting the launcher and gameclient exe are set to run as admin helps.
Usually (but not all) thses type of errors are caused by directory/file access problems where the program dows not have read/write and create/delete permissions to the directory/files.

As far as seeing server up when down for maintenace. the server up detection from my understanding is from a server cluster heartbeat detection. So it is possible the servers are up but various services are turned off while doing maintenance.
