Klingon Genesis Missions DISAPPOINTING. When is it going to change?

Not to say the Federation Genesis missions are "the best thing ever" but at least the "storylines" for the most part makes sense (except when the Borg are supplying some people on a low-tech planet to help them in a civil war lol). The Klingon random exploration storylines make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER... Filled with Federation invaders shooting first, threatening to take over systems, etc. things that they would not do. I realize that as a random mission generator they just stick a random race into one of 6 pre-done stories (btw you need more stories since you do these missions for THE ENTIRE GAME), but come on... there needs to be some things that make sense, and the Federation attacking Klingon territory and threatening to destroy them is stupid.

And fed missions aren't equally hilarious? Beaming down onto the planet to scan some plants, only to discover those "plants" are actually metallic structures but the game can't tell the difference?

Being told by starfleet they're going to have a chat with the borg government after you clear the area of borg ships?

Even some fed missions are weird, like the (secret undine) admiral that asks you to pew pew a whole bunch of peaceful romulan medics, goes WITH you to make sure the deed is done, and after being discovered and killed, starfleet tries to cover it up, making you feel a bit like mengele?

Feds and Klingons are at war. It seems reasonable that the Fed would try and capture strategic planets and aquire resources to support their war effort. Seeing a bunch of Klingon invaders they should fire-first and ask questions latter. Diplomatic solutions are great for peace time but hardly appropriate for war.

Klingon missions are exactly the same quality as Fed missions (well, except a few bugs, I had buildings and rocks hovering in the air and in a few hilarious instances the enemies were spawned on top of buildings and then jumped down, losing over half of their HP before I even encountered them). The only really annoying thing is that you can't find destructible mission objectives with your tricorder. Good luck finding five plants in a foggy area.

Plundering outposts and leaving them behind burning only to attack a Klingon ship that approaches them because that would be a great ending for their mission doesn't make much sense. But it's the same as with the Borg who supply weapons, or the Orion pirates who talk about honourable combat with you etc.

I agree that they do need some work. It is really weird to go to a peaceful farming planet, only to find the federation demanding half their crop for "protection." But, on the other hand I do like the subtle changes they made to some of the missions to give them a more klingon flavor.

Twice I have had missions which if played on the fed side would have been of the 'salvage and recover' type. Klingon side it was to destroy them, and for one at the end to recover some data THEN destroy it. Definately a nice change to fit the klingon style alot better.

Sun Tzu said that if you cannot hold a strategic position then the next best course is to make it useless to the enemy.

Klingons are often supprised when humans use such tactics, believing them to be weak and sentimental but the actuality is that we have a long history brutality in warfare.

I have also encountered a Klingon mission where Federation officers were "extorting a settlement". Just makes no sense and completely out of character with lore.

Either make these "extortionists" non-Fed. random aliens or pirates, or change the storyline please !

While were are at the subject, why do Klingon mission givers refer to their own HQ as "Klingon Command" ?
Humans don't refer to their own HQ as "Human Command".
    Just weird !

Actually the extortion by the Federation missions makes perfect sense. Ever wonder about all those "helpless" colonist you save from the mean old nasty Kilngons? Ever wonder why the Klingons just happen to show up to an empty town at the same time you do? Yeah, thats right, we've both been set up by these squirmy weasling little toadies!

"Yo! My Klingon homeies!! Good ta see ya! Them federalies are here and.....they're.......they're demanding HALF our crops! Yeah! Go get 'em. We'll just step out for a minute"

"I say! Welcome to the sector my Federation compatriots! Say there, we've got a bit of a Klingon problem, mind giving us a hand? Oh capital! Well then, we'll just step out for a minute."

They set us one against the other like dogs for their perverse amusement! I'm pretty sure in Season Two we'll be seeing missions where the Klingons and Federation actually team up together to hunt down these lieing colonist scum.

Heh, that'd be fun. STO-Hunt for the Colonists!

Anyways, the Klingon missions are just the Federation missions flipped. Major disapointment.

There's Starfleet Command, and the ruling body of the Klingons is the Klingon High Council.... It would make sense that their military is directed by Klingon Command. Probably a translation thing. Also, there's more than just humans in the federation.

In other news, Google Chrome said "Klingons" was spelled wrong, but "Klingon" is not.

Genesis needs some work, indeed. Aside from the missions being a little to repetitive and formulaic, the story it implicitely generates needs to make more sense.

It might help to associate certain "keywords" with the various possible factions.

    For example:
    Klingons: Honor, Violent, Conquest, Exploration
    Hirogen: Honor, Planning, Hunt, Exploration
    Federation: Altrustic, Planning, Protection, Exploration
    Cardassians: Egoistic, Planning, Conquest, Espionage
    Ferengi: Egoistic, Planning, Extortion, Espionage
    Naucassian: Egoistic, Violent, Extortion, Exploration
    Orion: Egoistic, Violent, Extortion, Espionage
    Romulans: Egoistic, Planning, Conquest, Espionage
or something like that, and link certain mission types or dialoge to this. If the mission text is about Honor, only Hirogen or Klingons can use the text. If the mission is about someone attacking civilians, it can only be Conquest-type of guys. If someone is extorting people, Ferengi, Naucassians and Orions are possibilities, but it will never be Feds. If the KDF orders you to conquer a planet (something pretty much limited to the Klingon faction, of coruse), you might either compete with Cardassians and Orions, or you have to fight off Starfleet soldiers trying to protect the planet.

Dont forget propaganda. You purposely spread rumors about the horrible acts of your enemy. It inflames your solders. Inflamed solders fight harder and more bravely believing that their cause is just.

So I ask how much of what you are told about these missions is true and how much is propaganda?
