Haven't had a real problem with Klings in general, just mechanics issues that seem to arise every time I q up for FvK.
But, it's the same thing every time, Kling decloaks, snb, vm, die while you wait on the timer. Rinse, repeat. I like my escort but no real reason to bring one into a FvK fight anymore. Boring.
Back to FvF... I can at least see a sci ship and attempt an Omega.
Maybe when they hobble the crutch a bit I can throw some torps at ya. Until then, keep fighting each other.

I just took screenshots today in every FvK fight at RA5 level, because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's a complete! One that would be the reason for me to fire people.
~2.5mln damage from Kinks vs ~700K from Feds, another one 700K for Klinks vs 100K for feds, etc... and how is that? PvP is a complete waste of time for feds. At RA5 in escort, I'm dying as quick as in 4 seconds from any klink with AP turrent, even though I use shield/hull buffs vs AP.

Yes, Klingons ARE OP. But not so much so that its impossible to win or anything for the feds.
Issues you raise with the feds are valid... but lack some polish.
1. For Klingons, you can have 1 team member play the tard and run around alone and still be okay. If feds do this, its insta-lose. Fed team cannot and will not win unless EVERY member FULLY cooperates. Klingons dont need this level of cooperation to win.
2. Cruisers, on both sides, are just royally screwed for now. Klingons have the advantage of at least being able to have their cruiser cloaked... Feds just get to be the sitting duck.
3. Klingons get to use the better weaponry on their cruisers, which further makes Klingon cruisers better than a Fed cruiser.
4. Klingon players DO NOT act as Klingons would. Klingons flee from battle FAR more often than a Fed player does. Fed players CANT flee from battle, there is no out running a Klingon ship.
As it is, PvP IS in favo of the Klingons given equally skilled teams.
However, it is magnified by the cruiser issue right now as well as the fact that 1 tard fed player = instalose for the feds. (Seriously, wish I could fire on my team mates when I see them go full impulse and start to scatter)

We've fought plenty of groups like the one you describe. That combination alone is not an insta win for klinks. By the way, we cant fight groups of 6-8 in 5v5.
As for APs... All I have to say is: have fun with those.

i have played vs them once when DOB was a full team, they beat the not so great pug i was in at the time with ease, however, i have been in a lot of not so great pugs and won, so that does nto detract at all from their teamwork. I have also seen a couple of the DOB players in pugs themselves and tho they perform better than the team mostly, it is not by a great margin, they get killed and lose just like everyone else in that circumstance.
If those individuals can come together and win through teamwork then others can do so also. While they may have a skill edge over a lot of Federation players they are not a group of godlike players and what they can achieve can be replicated by most groups who put in the same effort.
So to summarize... Solo/Pug is OK for Klingon, you'll be fine regardless, for fed, make sure you group up, have defined tactics and roles, or you're doing it wrong. Sounds like a perfectly equitable arrangement.
There is such a double standard when it comes to how feds are expected to play vs the way Klingon play that it's not even funny. When you constantly score over 1 mil damage per match on the Klingon side, but with the same setup on an equivalent fed ship score in the 500k range it OBVIOUSLY means when you logged into the fed side you became a worse player. :rolleyes:
The cycle of buffs and nerfs works this way, if you can't win as easily on one faction as you do on the other then people will complain until there are "balances" you can't simply expect the majority of the population to develop teamwork or skill as a viable alternative to a generally balanced consensus .

In your rant I keyed in on one thing you mentioned. Escorts are doing massive damage now, and you are either blind to the fact that escorts are on both sides or overlooked that fact. I dunno, just thought I would chime in and remind you both sides have escorts and it is not one side is OP over the other. But, based on your rant ill assume you fly something other than an escort, hence why your taking the cloak thing so personally. And as far as the cloak goes, it is only as good as the men and women using it, think about that while I finish my popcorn.

I disagree that pugs are a waste. Sure you don't win much but you can work on your on skills quite well as you can be damned sure, with little exception, you are on your own.

Everyone should learn to do these things. I don't care if you are anti-social. Nobody expects you to stay in the team after the map, and nobody respects you for flying off solo and dieing.

I leveled a a fed cruiser to RA5 prior to leveling my klink cruiser captain. While you seem to be part of the vocal majority your experiences are the opposite of my own. I leveled both sides via pug pvp. Truth be told there are quite a few cruiser captains on both sides that are still destroying things left and right, but my fed cruisers have always outperformed my klink cruisers as long as the rest of the team wasnt full of morons.
Obviously feds CAN NOT fly off on their own since they dont have cloak, klinks can. That simple bit of knowledge seems to have been lost on the vast majority of fed players. If my fed pugs stay together and fight together we do well. I lost count of the number of fed that fly into my uncloaked klink toon solo (at full impuse no less) long ago. Crappy players lose matches, unfortunatly the feds have more crappy players % wise the klinks. It is in no way because feds in general are crappy. When you have 10 times the numbers you have 10 times the crappy players.
Quote number 2 is simply false and you know it. I routinely get asked, " holy TRIBBLE, what weapons are you using?" and the answer is always "just plain old phasers/disruptors." AP weapons dont make you a better player, they just mean you have purple gear.

To effectively beat Kilinks the Feds need strategy. Feds can beat Klinks easily, I was PvP'g with a great groupo last night and we consistantly beat the Klinks due to good team work, keeping together and of course the right mixture of ships skills.
It keeps things interesting I like it.
although if you get stuck with a bunch of Rambos on the fed side the Klinks TRIBBLE you.
PvP 101 Space ~ For All because Klingon's make some of these mistakes too.
1. Do not chase the fleeing opponent. This includes and not limited to being lead away from your space. Do not be tempted by the Wizard of Oz. If you see yourself being lead away as you can see it on the mini map then turn around and head back to that space. Call out you need help to your team members.... (common sense)
2. Team up it takes a good 3 Klingon's to turn space so you can cascade a little bit.
3. Create a team with members on your side so you can communicate a little better with out sharing valuable information with the other side.
4. If you obtain the board meaning it is all Red or all Blue keep two back to watch things to make sure no one from the other team slips by because they don't IBM (I've Been Mislead) someplace else Number 1.
5. Salvage Operation is all about keeping space it has nothing to do with fighting in the Road like in world of warcraft in Arathi Basin. You are suppose to hold space so monitor your space and keep it.
Best place to fight is right on your nodes just like in AB in wow.
6. Arena, keep together that also means Klingon's a good team together wins, and strays can cause the whole team to be blown away either team.

I have on both sides seen some terrible play , pre patch it didnt really matter if you got all the feds in a nice little huddle , taking the klingons down one by one you would still take heavy casualties and lose . Now its a lot better generakky
im finding some teams really good to play with and others not so good but those i play with at rank commander -0 to capt-0 are getting a lot better we spot the bait and wait we move as a team the only problem i find is we dont respawn in the same place so we have to max speed to re-group which makes for easy prey for the klinks that would be my only gripe everything is ok.
i have changed alot about my ship and BO skills since doing pvp as just from doing pve gives you no idea what you are doing when it comes to fighting the real thing

Ok....now since you are a fellow stonewall fleetie I won't go snb/vm on this post however allow me to clear a few things up for you. To state Klingon's are OP without ever having played one is farce. Having ships on both sides, playing both sides you have a better understanding. So, allow me to answer each of your points.
1. Yes a cloaked ship can fly around undetected alone and be fine. However, what good is a cloaked ship? You can't do anything but that be "cloaked". Capture and hold....you need to be decloaked. Warzone you now need to be decloaked to scan nodes. Attacking another ship...decloaked. So, really being cloaked makes you a non factor in pvp solo.
2. When you compare stat for stat each ship, the Fed cruiser is far superior... depending on your spec I know for a fact that fed "beam boat" intentionally fly solo. Taking snb/vm out of the picture I have personally witnessed one fed cruiser hold off 5 BoP's and 1 Raptor. And I must state this....he wasn't even remotely close to dying. His health didn't go below 80%.
3. Again state wise I refer to response #2.
4. Ok. I just have to say BS here. I have seen both sides run away to regroup, heal, whatever. And I have seen many fed's successfully outrun Klingon ships. By doing simple things like combining skills ie evasive manuevers/engine battery/ramming speed/emergency power to engines. I have seen fed ships zip away like they were in full impulse.
I beg to differ with you as far as your statement of it being more for Klingon's. Capture and hold is grossly broken. When 3 Klingon ships sit uncloaked to capture 1 point, and in that time frame one fed ship can fly to another point, sit, and capture the point then fly away meanwhile the 3 klingon's are still sitting there waiting for the stupid capture point to change. Yeah, not very Klingon friendly. Warzone, well lets not talk about the bugged mission. I have never been in that place and had more than 3 klingon's at one time, add with that the borg cubes and spheres stuck in the platforms to the point that you can't attack them is just plain irritating. And with the recent change of having to decloak just to scan the nodes, when I tell you the Federation always wins this now, its true. Not 60-40, 70, 30, not even 90-10. Since the patch 100% of the times I have been in there the fed wins. Thats fact! Its now to the point Klingon's go in there to complete their daily but just waiting for you Fed's to win 3 times so we can leave.

Except... targeting is a BEAR when you're trying to find the player in the swarm. These days, the carrier isn't the problem, its the player BoPs and the new ship - you simply cant find them in the crowd fast enough! This game needs a "target nearest enemy player" keybind.

Feds lose vs. Klingons? When did this happen?
Seriously though the only reason why is because their mini-escort (BoP) spams Sci then runs off at WARP 2076 when someone touches his shields then safely battle cloaks out of range.
BoP is a Tac ship (weapon power increases anyone?) that can get Commander level Sci abilities.
Nothing on the Fed side comes close to that combo. Damage YES but that Combo NO.
This has bugged me a good bit. A lot of people are concerned that the Klingons do so much damage vs what the Federation does. I think a lot of this has to do with how much uptime the BoP gets vs the Federation escorts.
I know that when I am playing if I see an escort that immediately becomes my first target for two reasons. One, I know that they are the biggest threat to my team and myself in regards to the damage they can put out. Second, because I know that they are also the easiest to kill. I think amongst Klingons that same mentality is pretty universal. However, as a BoP pilot, I rarely ever find myself focused, or for that matter even targeted by the Federation. I think one of the problems is this penny arcade idea http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/9/21/ . It requires just a little bit of thought to translate it into STO, but roughly translates to "kill the BoPs first." The BoP does huge damage, and can CC. Focus them. Make us fear uncloaking.
I promise, BoPs are very easy to kill. And if the BoP is playing an electronic warfare build, they have very little survivability.
Only other thing. BoP rarely uncloak first when there are bigger ships around. Don't let that fool you. Just because you picked a target, doesn't mean you have to stick with it if a more appetizing and vulnerable target appears.

I have to say BOP is the only ship i worry about. The DPS and open BO slots are wicked. I can tell you most of the time they die fast as hell but they can do some serious work.
very simply put 1 fed player in arena sucks = loose it is not a balance game and not exceptable, yes its very cool, when you have team speak well organise fed teams vs klin is very fun and realistic but que groups on fed side = 90% faceplant, I dont cry like alot of people i solve , I believe to fix this is to ad a fed bonus for each dif ship on fed side like more power for fed cruiser or replace a officer for one extra unknow BO for all fed ships somthing to conter kling cloak and better dps. + Give the Fed a carrier even after S1 fed stll need a flagship or somthing to counter kling extra variety. You can never have any balance game with 3 choice of ship vs 4 because the other side has a xtra diminsion than you = all the difrance this is the major problem and should be solve first before nerf bat comes out.
Ps I love the S1 changes and no nerfing should be done only expanding giving a counter to everything so you might not ever know if there your arch nemisis and have all counter messures

Wrong! Klingons can fire when cloaked. Whether this is a bug or not, I don't know. I'll record my next session with those firing at me when cloaked. I've been killed like that many times, since you can't target cloaked ship.

But, it's the same thing every time, Kling decloaks, snb, vm, die while you wait on the timer. Rinse, repeat. I like my escort but no real reason to bring one into a FvK fight anymore. Boring.
Back to FvF... I can at least see a sci ship and attempt an Omega.

I just took screenshots today in every FvK fight at RA5 level, because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's a complete! One that would be the reason for me to fire people.
~2.5mln damage from Kinks vs ~700K from Feds, another one 700K for Klinks vs 100K for feds, etc... and how is that? PvP is a complete waste of time for feds. At RA5 in escort, I'm dying as quick as in 4 seconds from any klink with AP turrent, even though I use shield/hull buffs vs AP.
I'm slowly becoming more and more frustrated with this game, and probably will go back to EVE with proper PvP.

I agree that premade / friend teaming / fleet teams with a strategy and tactics going in the fight are the way to go.

communication is the kley...especially when we beat premades and klingon players in tier 4 ships whgile they were in t5 ships.

Yes, Klingons ARE OP. But not so much so that its impossible to win or anything for the feds.
Issues you raise with the feds are valid... but lack some polish.
1. For Klingons, you can have 1 team member play the tard and run around alone and still be okay. If feds do this, its insta-lose. Fed team cannot and will not win unless EVERY member FULLY cooperates. Klingons dont need this level of cooperation to win.
2. Cruisers, on both sides, are just royally screwed for now. Klingons have the advantage of at least being able to have their cruiser cloaked... Feds just get to be the sitting duck.
3. Klingons get to use the better weaponry on their cruisers, which further makes Klingon cruisers better than a Fed cruiser.
4. Klingon players DO NOT act as Klingons would. Klingons flee from battle FAR more often than a Fed player does. Fed players CANT flee from battle, there is no out running a Klingon ship.
As it is, PvP IS in favo of the Klingons given equally skilled teams.
However, it is magnified by the cruiser issue right now as well as the fact that 1 tard fed player = instalose for the feds. (Seriously, wish I could fire on my team mates when I see them go full impulse and start to scatter)
Yes Klingons are Over Powered. STOP pretending they aren't. But just because they are over powered does not mean they are godly and unbeatable. :P
besides, they are built for PvP... it would make sense they'd be OP for that purpose.
Klingons in your videos are some real full time *****es, never played anything like that. It looks like they're sleeping, or looking at TV, and their dogs and cats are playing with you.
Try fighting groups with 2-3 escorts, 2 carriers and 2-3 cruisers, insta loose for you mate, especially that none of you have APs, and most klinks have them these days.
Maybe they were asleep, who knows...
We've fought plenty of groups like the one you describe. That combination alone is not an insta win for klinks. By the way, we cant fight groups of 6-8 in 5v5.
As for APs... All I have to say is: have fun with those.
i have played vs them once when DOB was a full team, they beat the not so great pug i was in at the time with ease, however, i have been in a lot of not so great pugs and won, so that does nto detract at all from their teamwork. I have also seen a couple of the DOB players in pugs themselves and tho they perform better than the team mostly, it is not by a great margin, they get killed and lose just like everyone else in that circumstance.
If those individuals can come together and win through teamwork then others can do so also. While they may have a skill edge over a lot of Federation players they are not a group of godlike players and what they can achieve can be replicated by most groups who put in the same effort.
There is such a double standard when it comes to how feds are expected to play vs the way Klingon play that it's not even funny. When you constantly score over 1 mil damage per match on the Klingon side, but with the same setup on an equivalent fed ship score in the 500k range it OBVIOUSLY means when you logged into the fed side you became a worse player. :rolleyes:
The cycle of buffs and nerfs works this way, if you can't win as easily on one faction as you do on the other then people will complain until there are "balances" you can't simply expect the majority of the population to develop teamwork or skill as a viable alternative to a generally balanced consensus .
In your rant I keyed in on one thing you mentioned. Escorts are doing massive damage now, and you are either blind to the fact that escorts are on both sides or overlooked that fact. I dunno, just thought I would chime in and remind you both sides have escorts and it is not one side is OP over the other. But, based on your rant ill assume you fly something other than an escort, hence why your taking the cloak thing so personally. And as far as the cloak goes, it is only as good as the men and women using it, think about that while I finish my popcorn.
I disagree that pugs are a waste. Sure you don't win much but you can work on your on skills quite well as you can be damned sure, with little exception, you are on your own.
Frankly, a good list of general team play basics, PvP or PvE.
Everyone should learn to do these things. I don't care if you are anti-social. Nobody expects you to stay in the team after the map, and nobody respects you for flying off solo and dieing.

I leveled a a fed cruiser to RA5 prior to leveling my klink cruiser captain. While you seem to be part of the vocal majority your experiences are the opposite of my own. I leveled both sides via pug pvp. Truth be told there are quite a few cruiser captains on both sides that are still destroying things left and right, but my fed cruisers have always outperformed my klink cruisers as long as the rest of the team wasnt full of morons.
Obviously feds CAN NOT fly off on their own since they dont have cloak, klinks can. That simple bit of knowledge seems to have been lost on the vast majority of fed players. If my fed pugs stay together and fight together we do well. I lost count of the number of fed that fly into my uncloaked klink toon solo (at full impuse no less) long ago. Crappy players lose matches, unfortunatly the feds have more crappy players % wise the klinks. It is in no way because feds in general are crappy. When you have 10 times the numbers you have 10 times the crappy players.
Quote number 2 is simply false and you know it. I routinely get asked, " holy TRIBBLE, what weapons are you using?" and the answer is always "just plain old phasers/disruptors." AP weapons dont make you a better player, they just mean you have purple gear.
I'm obviously not changing anyones opinions with the above, but I feel better having said it. To sum it all up, stop your *****ing and fight.

PvP 101 Space ~ For All because Klingon's make some of these mistakes too.
1. Do not chase the fleeing opponent. This includes and not limited to being lead away from your space. Do not be tempted by the Wizard of Oz. If you see yourself being lead away as you can see it on the mini map then turn around and head back to that space. Call out you need help to your team members.... (common sense)
2. Team up it takes a good 3 Klingon's to turn space so you can cascade a little bit.
3. Create a team with members on your side so you can communicate a little better with out sharing valuable information with the other side.
4. If you obtain the board meaning it is all Red or all Blue keep two back to watch things to make sure no one from the other team slips by because they don't IBM (I've Been Mislead) someplace else Number 1.
5. Salvage Operation is all about keeping space it has nothing to do with fighting in the Road like in world of warcraft in Arathi Basin. You are suppose to hold space so monitor your space and keep it.
Best place to fight is right on your nodes just like in AB in wow.
6. Arena, keep together that also means Klingon's a good team together wins, and strays can cause the whole team to be blown away either team.

I have on both sides seen some terrible play , pre patch it didnt really matter if you got all the feds in a nice little huddle , taking the klingons down one by one you would still take heavy casualties and lose . Now its a lot better generakky
i have changed alot about my ship and BO skills since doing pvp as just from doing pve gives you no idea what you are doing when it comes to fighting the real thing

Ok....now since you are a fellow stonewall fleetie I won't go snb/vm on this post however allow me to clear a few things up for you. To state Klingon's are OP without ever having played one is farce. Having ships on both sides, playing both sides you have a better understanding. So, allow me to answer each of your points.

2. When you compare stat for stat each ship, the Fed cruiser is far superior... depending on your spec I know for a fact that fed "beam boat" intentionally fly solo. Taking snb/vm out of the picture I have personally witnessed one fed cruiser hold off 5 BoP's and 1 Raptor. And I must state this....he wasn't even remotely close to dying. His health didn't go below 80%.
3. Again state wise I refer to response #2.
4. Ok. I just have to say BS here. I have seen both sides run away to regroup, heal, whatever. And I have seen many fed's successfully outrun Klingon ships. By doing simple things like combining skills ie evasive manuevers/engine battery/ramming speed/emergency power to engines. I have seen fed ships zip away like they were in full impulse.
I beg to differ with you as far as your statement of it being more for Klingon's. Capture and hold is grossly broken. When 3 Klingon ships sit uncloaked to capture 1 point, and in that time frame one fed ship can fly to another point, sit, and capture the point then fly away meanwhile the 3 klingon's are still sitting there waiting for the stupid capture point to change. Yeah, not very Klingon friendly. Warzone, well lets not talk about the bugged mission. I have never been in that place and had more than 3 klingon's at one time, add with that the borg cubes and spheres stuck in the platforms to the point that you can't attack them is just plain irritating. And with the recent change of having to decloak just to scan the nodes, when I tell you the Federation always wins this now, its true. Not 60-40, 70, 30, not even 90-10. Since the patch 100% of the times I have been in there the fed wins. Thats fact! Its now to the point Klingon's go in there to complete their daily but just waiting for you Fed's to win 3 times so we can leave.
Except... targeting is a BEAR when you're trying to find the player in the swarm. These days, the carrier isn't the problem, its the player BoPs and the new ship - you simply cant find them in the crowd fast enough! This game needs a "target nearest enemy player" keybind.

Seriously though the only reason why is because their mini-escort (BoP) spams Sci then runs off at WARP 2076 when someone touches his shields then safely battle cloaks out of range.
BoP is a Tac ship (weapon power increases anyone?) that can get Commander level Sci abilities.
Nothing on the Fed side comes close to that combo. Damage YES but that Combo NO.
I know that when I am playing if I see an escort that immediately becomes my first target for two reasons. One, I know that they are the biggest threat to my team and myself in regards to the damage they can put out. Second, because I know that they are also the easiest to kill. I think amongst Klingons that same mentality is pretty universal. However, as a BoP pilot, I rarely ever find myself focused, or for that matter even targeted by the Federation. I think one of the problems is this penny arcade idea http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/9/21/ . It requires just a little bit of thought to translate it into STO, but roughly translates to "kill the BoPs first." The BoP does huge damage, and can CC. Focus them. Make us fear uncloaking.
I promise, BoPs are very easy to kill. And if the BoP is playing an electronic warfare build, they have very little survivability.
Only other thing. BoP rarely uncloak first when there are bigger ships around. Don't let that fool you. Just because you picked a target, doesn't mean you have to stick with it if a more appetizing and vulnerable target appears.
I have to say BOP is the only ship i worry about. The DPS and open BO slots are wicked. I can tell you most of the time they die fast as hell but they can do some serious work.
Ps I love the S1 changes and no nerfing should be done only expanding giving a counter to everything so you might not ever know if there your arch nemisis and have all counter messures
My Bs rant lol= SNB and VM is not a game over yes they need to be shorten but a well balance fed cruiser that switch to shield in VM can sit and not die vs 2 oppenents but again it all about play style but dont nerf science captain in to nothing SNB I almost never use and lol there are very few science captain out there so I see it once a fight " on me"but not overpower in the fact of what it does but the long time they can have you lock up to 40 sec is just dum I love the game but the somthing in this game look like they wernt even adress and all I am hoping is cryptic adress the issue properly and not nerf everything and wish the best for the future of STO

so true and people will never listen either, sadly ive said it many times.....let them PUG and let them get wrecked. As i put before join a good fleet. I see lots of fed fleet premades in pvp and seems like more are up and coming.
