Feds cant cloak. My best guess is some sort of stealthy move such as jam sensors.

Jam Sensors. You can tell you're jammed because it puts little white sparkly lights around your ship. You can cure it by hitting yourself with Science Team.

And any ship can do this. It's a science bridge officer ability, not a ship ability.

Mask Energy Signature will make your ship disappear for a few seconds to the enemy.
Not the same as cloak since it's very temporary, but almost as good.
I used it on my Raptor for a while, almost as good as a battle cloak if ya need to get away to heal, etc.
And if ya hit the gas right after, you can get far enough away when they do see you again, you're out of range. ;)

I don't think Mask Energy Signature can actually be used while under fire? It was my understanding it had the same limitations as regular (non-battle) cloak, but with a far greater detection radius.

Mask Energy Signature drops your shields completely and enables cloaked mode, so yes, fed ships can actually cloak for all intents and purposes. I use it frequently as it's a great way to get the drop on an opponent. You cannot engage it while under fire however, although I have encountered the same thing the OP is talking about where a ship will disappear on you...I figured it was just Jam Sensors.

I thought a Fed Sci ship could cloak myself, but I am mistaken. So that ends my time on Fed, heck I created a sci ship just thinking I was going to get some kind of cloak and it turned out there isn't any cloak on Feds. Oh well, no biggie there is always Klingon so no problem.

    Cheers!

Yeah, I saw this in a pvp match a few days ago. I was using my Klingon toon, and every time we were about to blow up this federation escort, it would "disappear". I witnessed this happen on 2 occasions, and on both occasions I was within 7 km from the target and firing on it. It looked like it was cloaking... so knowing that the feds cannot cloak, and knowing that mask energy signature cannot be used while under fire (and isn't as good as a cloak, so disappearing at under 7km while I'm firing on it is highly unlikely), I asked how it was that this ship was disappearing just as we were about to kill it. Answer from the captain: "The new patch allows feds to cloak, klinks don't have such an advantage now, etc..."
Knowing that this was also bs, I came to one conclusion... they cheat, in a way. I think that these fed ships which are about to be destroyed in pvp and then seemingly "cloak", are actually just logging off from the game, which removes them from the map (play with some friends, head into a sector patrol or something and get your friend to log out, it looks exactly like the mysterious federation cloak). They then log back in quickly, which will put you right back into the pvp map. I know this from when you get stuck in the starbase on the hold and capture maps... before they had the "/stuck" command, the fastest way to get out of the base and back into the action was to quickly log in and out... So basically, these players are cheating... they can't handle being defeated in battle, so they log out to avoid death, then log back in... I'm pretty sure that is what is happening.

Jam Sensors do make it appear that the Fed ship has cloaked I was looking at it in one of my games last night just to make sure I understood what they were doing.

Hey - yes Jam senors will do that. But Jam sensors only affects one target, and you can tell when you've been hit by it, because you sparkle a little. I wasn't hit with Jam sensors when this happened, and on both occasions I was with another BOP, and the fed escort disappeared for them too... so it couldn't be Jam sensors... To quote a famous Vulcan quoting a famous English detective...

    I wish !
as for mask energy signature, my fleet has tested all 3 levels with different consoles and builds, at MES 3 you get seen at 20KM, not exactly steath but I guess better than seen at 30Km, but I would NEVER use MES unless they reworked the skill.

Yeah, this is what my friend has indicated as well. MES in PvP is basically just a "hey, I feel like running with no shields" power, it really doesn't cloak you. He said in PvE it works like Kling stealth, but in PvP it's not really worthwhile.

If this is the case, checking the logg-in for that specific player should be easy for Cryptic I asume, so, write down the player who vanishes AND comes back after a few seconds, so Dev's know that this exploit needs to be fixed a.s.a.p.

How? Simple, delay logg-in for 15 seconds after logging out(if that is long enough to take that player out of PvP), problem solved.
Drawback; when someone acutally loses their connection, they can't re-enter the match.

edit. getting hit by a Jam Sensors is very obvious to see with ur ship is transformed into a sparkly bubble, so again I asume, this is NOT the case.

Translation= They might be loggin out and then logging back in.

No, he's most likely referring to the Capture and Hold maps, where players can use /stuck and respawn back at their starting base.

This is an issue I have tried to bring up with Cryptic many many many times via the forums and bug reports, but never get a reply to.

Simple fix would be to make /stuck unusable in combat....but I guess there are more important things to do with development time, such as make new uniforms and have Bridge Officers show up at their stations when viewing your ship's bridge.....

yes i just done a pvp and a fed ship cloaked while i was attacking it so this does need taken care of because i have a total of 3 fed char and none of them cloak so i think if one person can do it we all should be able too

...again, they are not cloaking, they are either of the following two things:

    - using Jam Sensors on you (where you see the sparkling effect on your ships hull) which can be removed by using Sci Team

    - if you are on a Capture and Hold map, they are likely using the "/stuck" command, which instantly moves them to the Starbase you spawn at when you enter the map or after you die. This causes the person using the "/stuck" command to instantly disappear from everyone's screen, and reappear at the player's spawn area.

A question about MES and for those that have tested it. Is MES like cloak where it is affected by AUX power levels, and if so how much of a difference does it make?

And I thought they fixed the /stuck exploit in one of the recent patches?

And if you think some one is exploiting /stuck or logging in and out to avoid death, you can Report them. How much good it may or may not do I don't know, but I still think it's worthwhile to do so.

MES is affected by Aux, however it is only useful in PvE. It is completely useless for PvP.

As for /stuck, it has not been corrected for Capture & Hold maps.
