Liberated Borg in the Cstore?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
So Cryptic.

Is there ever a chance we'll see liberated Borg in the Cstore?

Maybe without that neural blast ability they're supposed to have to throw the lifers a bone (Although lets face it many of them have severe unwarranted self importance)

So much work has been put into making them it just seems odd when they'll be gone after a year or two.

I'm of the opinion that any perk should end up in the C-Store

Except access to the Captain's Table. Keep the unwashed masses out of it.

    :D

Well I got a preorder pack with joined trill and I'd be fine with joined trill in the Cstore. Hell I'm expecting it seeing as we'll die out otherwise

I'm of the opinion that they should not be in C-Store.

Ok maybe im Biased, but they were an "exclusive" offer for that lifetime deal only.
And lets face it, liberated Borg isnt exactly commonplace in Star Trek, and i would hate to see like every other player running around being ex-Borg.

In that case they may just as well give us a whole Borg Faction instead. :p

Severe unwarranted self importance? It sounds to me like someone is just mad he didn't get the expensive cookie others shelled out for.

IMO, they should be in c-store, as well as the joined trill i got from DDE.
Hell, they gave out our TOS uniforms (for free), at least why not share the REST OF THE GOODNESS (for cryptic points) as well??

Because TOS uniforms were not a once-in-a-lifetime time-limited offer?

Old uniforms can be replicated. Joined Trill are a good deal more common than Liberated Borg drones I would think.

I'm going to agree with Alex on this one. Liberated Borg should be a 'rarity'. I would be against them in the c-store.

Nice trolling, sounds like someone needs a hug lol.

All the uniforms are become available, TOS, TNG etc...
Not sure about the other stuff, I'm guessing it will be on there over time.

TOS uniform is already free on a few websites and gaming magazines

This is CP we know al they want is money, so its inevitable.

All items that were given as bonuses when joining should be put in the C Store... just make them a bit more expensive than other things. It will enhance the game and give Cryptic extra cash to allow them to develop the game more.

some people are only just finding out about this game and some will have wnated to wait for it to stabalise before playing it, its not fair for them to miss out on these things, just make them pay for it

They were supposed to be preorder exclusive.

    Although personally I don't care.

As for liberated Borg not being common. The Trekverse is a very different place in the 2400's. Considering how much better the Borg are understood and how more active the federation and empire are in confronting them it seems to me that liberated borg would be much more common than you would think. You even have a mission fedside to liberate a bunch of researchers who got assimilated.

make the liberated borg a final award in a very difficult STF? that way you gotta be RA5 to even have a chance at getting one, and then make the mission extremely challenging and the liberated borg character as a reward

Ohhh now that is an interesting idea.

    ~EDIT~

But thinking on it a bad one. Then everyone will have LBs

Best to put it in the Cstore

Call me a troll if you like, but it's the truth. It's the same 'waaaaahhhh he has something I want' that is so rampant nowadays.

If he wanted the extra shiny bit (read: Borg character) that the lifers have, he should have paid what we did. Either that or wait until our premium pays out, which is at the 1.5 year mark or so and then pay for them in the c-store.

Any sooner and you are going to have some seriously miffed people.

Oh diddums? Since when did Cryptic care about you anyways?

    They just want your money.

Although to be fair I would say let them keep the neural blast ability either way as a "I am special" mark

Yeah because neural blast will totally distinguish the lifer borg from the non-lifer ones.
Just deal with the fact that you didn't pay the premium for it, you can't have it.

Ok lets use an example from a previous game.

Long long ago before Cryptic went independant they made a game called CoX.

They then released a collector edition after the first major expansion to the game. One of the perks of this was a jetpack you could use to hop around the city quickly which really helped in the early lvls.

Later on they added this to their store not long after they opened it.

End of the day no big fuss.

I disagree. it's much easier to become a Borg than to become a Joined Trill.

"Hello Mr Borg, can I join y----urgh." whirr, click, fizz "We are Borg."

    See, easy.

"Hello Important people of Trill joining system, college thing. I wanna trill in me!"

"Go do stuff for 10 years and we'll think about it"

    See, much harder.

But my point is, Joined Trills go through huge amounts of training and such to become joined, Borg is as easy as throwing a few nanobots into your bloodstream.

So, those who bought the LTS after the pre-order BETA and paid $60 more should get less? Fine sense of logic you have there...

Well the joined trill had to have been exceptional individuals before even getting their symbiote.

You're looking at many many many degrees, awards, achievements, etc before they can even apply.

After that theres all the psychological evaluations and such. Then a field test.

Liberated Borg you need to be lucky enough to be saved which considering how often Starfleet fights the Borg is probably a lot more often than you'd think.

Personally it would not bother me to have any of the perks I got end up on the C-Store. Liberated Borg included. I paid for lifetime for that. Lifetime. The Borg was a bonus. If other can have fun with a Borg, etc more power to em.

I'm fine with any or all of the 'exclusives' ending up in the C-Store. I've enjoyed playing as a liberated borg, and think others should get to enjoy it too.

    /Agree

Although I got my lifetime to support this game and not have to pay monthly fees. The Liberated Borg pushed me for it more. In the end its Cryptics decision, I just hope that if/when they do release Liberated Borg to the masses its not before our premium pays out. :D

its like any bonus, a bonus. you cant say you are happy for the trill to be in the C Store, or the Connie or NX registration, but not the Borg. Yes the Borg is a bit more elite, but thats only cos its the lifer's bonus. But at the end of the day, you pay to be a lifer for the lifer subscription, not for the bonus. And anyway, you got your captain's table now, so let us have a liberated borg and run along to your special place ;)

I'd be perfectly fine with those who bought the Lifetime Sub after the fact having the Borg. You shelled out a big chunk of change as I did.

The OP ticks me off because he feels that he should have the cookie others paid a bunch for just because he wants it.

You can't walk into a store 2 months after the limited sale for something is over and A) Demand it because it was part of a previous offer or B) expect to get said item or service for far less than others paid for just because you want it.

Limited means something will not always be available or has something that restricts it in one way or another.

That being said, I'd be open for the newer lifers having the Liberated Borg, but not for it being a standard C-Store item.

I have to say that I am not fine with any of the exclusive game items ending up in the C-store. For the items I have of that type, I paid for their exclusivity, which is clearly stated in each instance of purchase. If Cryptic decides that they will include them in the C-store in violation of the spirit of exclusivity I will expect due compensation from Cryptic in the form of a monetary compensation at least equal to the c-store value or in the form of C-store credits. Prior to inclusion of those items in the C-store and potentially resultant compensation I also expect to have the opportunity to approve or disapprove the implementation of those items as C-store merchandise.
That being said, I'd be open for the newer lifers having the Liberated Borg, but not for it being a standard C-Store item.
With this statement I totally agree.

In general inappropriate sense of entitlement really ****es me off. Fracturing of limited and exclusive offers because you want something after the offer has expired is an inappropriate sense of entitlement.

I'd like to see it in the C-Store as well, Lifers have plenty of other perks plus the main perk of that after a certain time passes, Monthers and Annual subscribers will be maintaining STO. That IMO is really more than enough of a perk for them and again IMO the money they spent wasn't to show support for Cryptic, it was to show support for our beloved Star Trek.
