I'd LOVE to have access to a canon TOS bridge. However, my fears are that it would be gargantuan. I'll reserve judgement (and C-store bucks) until I see if the bridge we've grown up with is treated respectfully.

Yeah, love the new bridges, hate the size...
I'd love to see a TOS gear set (been lobbying for it since launch) Would be cool if they added a "TOS" kit that had the away team belts with the holsters, etc. Oh and the old skool phasers!
Would be nice if they added stuff from all of the movies, maybe even the Abrams one.
:cool:I think it would be monster cool if we could, for each faction that was in any of the original series shows, have access to the original series stuff for that faction!(I.E. Feds get all the Fed TOS stuff, and the Klingons get access to all the TOS Klingon stuff)! 'Nuff said!

Yeah, what's with the 5 star hotel lobby bridges. For a military organization you think they would keep it more functional and small for just essential personnel.

Gotta disagree here. The movie was supposed to be an alternate timeline so technically we shouldn't see anything from there. It already bugs me that people can wear the "Mirror" uniforms which are also supposed to be an alternate universe. However, if that is what the public wants it won't make me quit playing.
I still say the best idea is to put in a time portal and run one sector block as a differnt time. Imagine a seperate Sirius Sector Block where everything is set TOS. TOS ships. TOS Klingons. TOS style missions. TOS Sol System. They could just about copy the current sirus sector block and then reskin it. It would certainly fit in with all the time travel in the show. Think about walking around a smaller earth spacedock with TOS walls and NPCs in TOS outfits. Rock on.

I would be VERY down for that. I would actually like a separate server that was all TOS. I don't want the new timeline or story... just let me play in TOS-era. I'd also like the TOS-movie era through Ent-A.

I'd certainly sign up for all-TOS. But I'm old that way.
Scotty, please send up another keyboard and monitor to the bridge, the current ones seem to be covered in a strange coffee smelling substance.
I would drop some CP on a TOS bridge in a heartbeat, heck I would purchase an old school Type-F shuttle like the Galileo if you offered it on the C-Store
I would NOT recommend doing a TOS bridge unless you can make it the correct canon size. The huge bridges we have now are supposedly related to camera issues and to allow Undine through the doors, etc.
You should fix these issues first (create a separate kit for player hoursing) then you'll be able to make us nice canon bridges. TOS is certainly one I want for my Gamestop Connie!
Wow...I can certainly appreciate the fact that we all have different tastes, but...a ToS bridge?! vs. something like what we have??? Is it just for nostalgia or is it that THAT is what you think Star Trek should be like?
I'm not trying to be a jerk...just truly interested in what the appeal is. I know it's all personal taste, but...a ToS Bridge? Really???

It's partially nostalgia, sure. I grew up on Classic Trek, and in my opinion, no other Trek has been as good. They've all deviated away from the original vision and have felt watered down.
The original show was about PEOPLE, and what it meant to be human (through Spock). It didn't rely on guys with magic visors or councellors with special powers or a shapeshifter... it was just normal people out there, in the great vastness of space, exploring. The social issues were relevant and the morality lessons laid on thick. Men were men and women wore miniskirts. Kirk was a hero. It was action, adventure, and optomism all wrapped up in one colorful package.
i would vote for a quest line to get this something along the lines of the Enterprise episode - mirror darkly were the enterprise finds the Defiant and they steal it so the end of the mission would be to steal the Ship and escape.
so when you complete the mission you have the option for the uniforms-ship-bridge-ground weapons-ship weapons

Yep.. Nostalgia and looks.
See in the TOS / TMP era, the bridges were designed to allow the captain to look around the bridge from a central command position in his command chair that spins 360 degrees so that the Captain can look at the consoles and screens above the consoles to gather first hand information instead of having information relayed to him by the BOs.. this doesn't replace BOs but allows the bos to concentrate on the more intricate details when responding to the captain in emergency situations.
the bridges we have now are football fields between Navagation and the command chair.. if the enemy ships, in TOS/TMP, blows a console wounding or killing say your Navagator, the Captain can jump up and grab the console until another officer can replace the Captain.. the current Bridges, the reaction time for someone to fill a BOs spot would be WAY too long.. Helmsman gets killed, Captain / First Officer has to RUN across a football field to get to the Helm Console as the ship is about to hit an Asteroid.. Yep great design with the Bridges in game (Not).

I would like it better if it weren't c-store..... but, what you gonna do.
and please give the doors the "swooosh" sound effect so that I don't have to.
That just puts a smile on my face. Thank you sir.
Been asking for this, too.
DO EET!
(And include some attempts at "classic" Klingon/Rom bridges for the future.)
(And don't forget the movie bridges!)

TV series version (I hope

Example : TOS "Where no Man has Gone Before"

Queue up to 9 min 55 seconds to see why bridges were designed the way they were in TOS / TMP.
The appeal is Functionality, Nostalgia, plus they look 10,000 times better than TNG, DS9, Voyager style bridges.
Glad they are discussing TOS Bridges.. I personally would like that along with the ST II:TWOK Bridge.. would be fantastic.
I understand
Thank you.
