I haven't had much to complain about iin the game, but after the patch the game is unplayable for me today. I had planned to sit down and finally hit admiral (at caption 10), but I have 3 missions that's incomplete because I can't change instances without dropping from the server and taking 10 minutes to log back in. No real point to this post, just decided to vent a little and find something else to play for the day.
Deploying a major content patch late in the week instead of early in the week (when there would still be some time to tweak it before the weekend hits and everyone is playing) is extremely poor management.
While I understand your need to vent, I personally haven't had any login or playing problems today. Seems like some people are having issues, and others aren't. But if Cryptic is looking into it, let's hope they find what the problem is, and why only some people affected and others aren't.
I will say that, since Season 1 went live, we've already had two minor patches in as many days.
This is just inexcusable when you have a test server. It needs to be utilized to identify such problems so that the entire game isnt down during Saturday afternoon primetime playing. And when something like this does occur, they need to bring down the entire server, get "all hands on deck" and get it fixed ASAP! Either gross mismanagement or a gross lack of resources allocated to STO on cryptic's part is to blame. Some people have jobs and lives and this is the main time that they have to play this game during the week. Highly frustrating. And on top of it I can almost guarantee they wont give everyone a free day on their subscription.... we all get to literally pay for a day of someone's incompetence.
I'd be more inclined to look to Atari for lack of funds and mismanagement rather than Cryptic. Atari could care less about releasing broken product. They dump it out and much like Scrooge putting coal on the fire, they take their sweet time allocating funds to actually fixing things.
Temple of Elemental Evil was incredibly bugged when it came out. Troika didn't release a patch for it because Atari wouldn't ok the funds, despite the fact that it was blatantly borked. As it turned out, a fanbased patch allowing the game to be finished came out before Atari gave the go ahead for a company patch.
Personally, I like this game, but Atari is NOT our friend.

Think the Borg Tribbles are conspiring???
