This bad after launch?

I have been getting the messages "Dissconected from the server" in the middle of missions involving space battle then switching to ground battle and just in general. I have also noticed on missions like "the city on the edge of never" it wont fully complete and leaves me on the last objective "Times Enemy" It doesn't warp you to another sector or any thing, I was begining to think that STO had a good mission system but this much guess work is not how a good solid mmo is ran.

Today has been a rather craptastic day for the servers. I think they borked something major when they patched last.

Remember that after launch means absolutely nothing. All MMOs, so long as they are online, are ALWAYS in developement.

"Launch" just means we can play during the time. lol.

And you would suddenly be an expert on how to run a MMO?

They borked PVP so that when you levelled, you encded up at RA lvl - 39 and now theyre scrambling to fix it. Id imagine if it had done that for PVE, YOU wouldnt be screaming about ther downtime, youd be screaming at them to fix yer character and damn the downtime. Amirite?

lol @ sin, your funny love the jokes keep them comeing lol, stating a counter arguement to some thing everyone who has played a MMO knows lol.. I like you man your a real joker lol.

But anyway, yeah it kind of sucks I cant complete any missions, has any one else experienced this problem? I don't know if it has to do with the server droping me. When I go back in it says I can continue and I do but right on the last objective it boots me back out into sector space with no continue option and the mission incomplet

Yeah I know it suxs! That's why I'm here as well. But as long as they don't try to blame it on some ISP in Europe I won't get too mad at them.

Yeah, I love the guys crucifying thewm FOR admitting the error, when they get crucified for NOT doing so the rest of the time. IS there a way these guys can win here?

Well I don't think they think anyone here is stupid enough to believe that. It is a development error, some thing in the codeing got seriousely messed up. ISP isn't going to affect if a mission succeds or fails no matter how many times their servers lag us out.

They'll probably blame WoW for spoiling the patching process for the whole MMO market. People now consider losing XP just for playing the game unacceptable. :)

dang, sorry to hear MMOs have ripped you off of your time and dignity so badly... XP los is unacceptable after launch.. So are missions not completeing and the game not being playable in general for a few simple key things such as those. I haven't noticed any lost EXP but then again I cant gain exp for obviouse reasons.

I am not trying to start to much of a fuss over this but will there be a fix for this? does cryptic even know there are dibilitating flaws this seriouse?

Read up at G_Ms post. I agree with it. If YOU were having serious problems in the game, you would cry about it and want it fixed ASAP, and don't care about what downtime it takes to get it fixed.

Launch was just about flawless.. a little lagging and some log in queues.. some server maintainence (only 2 times near end of the first week).. then they put in the addition servers to accomodate player population.

Today, they hve had issues witht he P!VP servers which is causing unexpected behavior today and the Cryptic Team is working on it (see Sticky at top of forum).

I wonder if it is just server overload with a bunch of new people logging in because of the Season One patch...

the missions do seem to have some kinks in them from time to time. i haven't got hung up on a mission for a few weeks however i just started a new character and after finishing blowing up that cube at the end of the tutorial, the game wouldn't let me warp to spacedock, i had to go to a new instance before doing so, but now that part of the tutorial repeated and it won't let me drop the mission.

I don't care how much downtime it takes, I am sticking with STO, it's an awesome game, I got a life sub. I just wished I could lvl, and yeah these are seriouse problems. Not being able to advance in rank in anyway shape or form is a fatal flaw.

And no that wasnt sarcasim, it is kind of sad that you have to pay to play a game that keeps restarting you lol.

I thought this was a thread about bulimia and throwing up after eating until I realised it didn't say "This bad after lunch?"

No, the thing they'll end up doing to get it right would just **** everyone off most. Rolling back the servers to prepatch and fixing the original problems.

I've not had any issues today with the game. I was able to complete a couple of missions with a friend today. Only experienced 1 "Server Not Responding" message this morning, which wouldn't go away, so I shut down the game. But, otherwise, it's been a relatively smooth day for me.

I've been a computer tech analyst for coming up on 30 years....and I must say, I'm singularly impressed by those whom have been involved in MMO's and because of that simplistic fact, believe they understand the technical ins and outs of the problems STO is experiencing. The game's a huge success, ergo...countless many have joined-in... STO staff will soon reach the same inevitable conclusion we true tech pros have come to : 1) Their servers need to be radically upgraded and/or several run in parallel to accommodate the traffic of its new and existing members 2) IF they don't get a clue....soon, their going to lose thousands of customers and (Like me, potential lifetime members).

To STO staff...get it together soon y'all...because someone somewhere; as in my case, will step-in and take action to either chasten your recent foulups or perhaps they'll simply replace those of you whom seem to think the current environment is acceptible (eg; multiple server timeouts; "3 hour scheduled downtimes" which end up becoming 5+ hours, ect., etc.) If you worked in my facility and for me, we'd have already had our staff meetings and you'd be realizing there are those of us with power over your careers who keep their magnifying glass clean and well-used.

Enough of these repetitive timeout/server delays already... Let's get past these and stop disappointing those of us who pay your salaries.
