I have come to fear having to visit the Sol system since every time I do the game will take at least 5minutes to load (if I am lucky) and take take so log that I get logged out for being inactive. Is this normal? I am almost at the end of my 10 free trial and trying to decide if I should get the game or not. Spending this much time waiting is not acceptable to me, but if it is something they are working on and a short term issue, I can be patient.
I'm not even through the first parts of the game and I'm stuck at the Sol System loading screen.
Waited and waited, got frustrated so I created a new character only to get stuck there again.
I decided to go through the forums to try to find help since I know tech support always wants that to
be the first thing you do...I found quite a few subscribers that have complained about this problem but
NONE that had even been acknowledged.
So I started reading through some more of the problems that players had been reporting only to notice
that almost all of them have not been acknowledged.
This started to worry me so I opened a ticket and went back to the loading screen in hopes that eventually
something will have to give.
I like the game, all 20 mins that I've been able to play of it but the more I think about this the more upset I get.
I know that games especially mmos have problems, and especially at or close to launch but this is getting to be a bit absurd. I'm beginning to feel like I'm paying them to finish this game. Maybe next time it would work better if the product was finished before you put it on retail shelves.
Definitely NOT a good first impression! I can only hope that someone at Cryptic Studios actually cares about their reputation and their customer's confidence in them.:mad:
Are your systems up to the recommended specifications, or just the minimum?
Before I upgraded, I had the loading screen forever and couldn't even get into the game.
So I logged on in Safe Mode (Options menu, top of the launcher) and set my graphics to minimum. That allowed my old system to actually run the game fairly well.
Don't get me wrong, I like the game, I think...I won't really know until I've had a chance to play it.
If this continues without some sort of reply or help from Cryptic I guess they got me for $60.

If either of you have older systems, try that.
I had set it when i first loaded the game and set it to "remember" . Up until about two days ago it was working fine. My system is an XPS 600.
Above recommended specs...I've been playing the game. At first I dealt with the graphic settings so I could play the game without any sort of lag. Then I played it without any problems whatsoever until I got to the Sol loading screen. I've let it set and set and it still won't load.
On a side note, I play wow on almost complete full settings and have zero lag issues. I know that its somewhat different but I just can't see me having those kind of issues having the graphics and sound settings set lower than what they definitely could be set.

I'd at least try lowering your graphics settings. If that gets you past the Sol Sector loading screen, then bump them back up and see what happens.
my system is just fine and well above specs, and ive never EVER had a problem with sol even on the busiest of days... the last couple of days ive actually had to task manager>end program because i was waiting for a long while for it to load ( i smoked 2!! cigarettes in that time, and it was only about 25% loaded)
I am also suffering from really long load times when zoning. I didn't have this problem this afternoon. Could just be server load, but what are the chances of that? lol
No, that's not it. I have a very good computer system. For the past month, I've had my world detail settings at 200% and no problems.
Today (well, started yesterday really), I've been having intermittent problems. I even tried turning world detail settings to 50%. Same exact problems. When the game times out on zoning, I get a "Timeout while waiting for gameserver address" error message.
Lowering my world detail settings? Umm...ok, that'll prolly work...
I can now rest easy knowing that the quality of tech support that I'm getting for my hard earned money is
as least as good as the stability of this game.

Isn't it great? I filed a support ticket on the 6th since I crash to desktop an average of four times per away team mission if there's combat involved, as well as submitting a crash dump every time it happens (I've had seven crash dumps transferring at once at one point due to this) AND I made a post on the support forum. and I haven't received a single response from anyone in almost a month.
Somehow, I'm actually glad I haven't received a response yet, because I'm sure the response would be something just as insulting as "lower your world detail settings."

Check it again. Season One reset some of my graphics settings, it may have reset yours, too. Season one released two days ago.

Are you actively insulting your customers?
Earth Spacedock is filled with people who cant beam out without getting stuck at the loading screen for 10 minutes, followed by:
"timeout while waiting for gameserver address"
... and you DARE come here hinting that the problem might be on OUR end?
EDIT for time difference. Still, even 4 hours ago it seems the problem started to come up. Yet you chose to blame us. Nice.
