I've been playing STO since release, enjoy the game, but my old computer just died. So now I'm trying to install STO on my old laptop, but halfway through the installation it prompts me for my product key. I enter the product key on the page that pops up, but it tells me: "This product key is already active, it cannot be used again." Does this mean that my disk is now worthless? Is it effectively good for only one install? Or do I need to cancel my subscription or something, then install, then create a new subscription? Surely there's some sort of way to resolve this. Anyone have any ideas? Cryptic?
Edit: Alright, I'm not sure how, but I came back a few minutes later and not only was the installer no longer stopped at the same halfway point, it had actually finished installing. Launcher seems to be patching correctly. Sorry for the confusion. I guess it didn't really mind that I had installed once before. Or something...
I have the same issue, I have submitted a ticket a few days ago but no resposne. I had to do a fresh install of windows on my Alienware and yet the game reports that the key is used.
What can do to deactivate the previous key? I am even on the same hard drive!
When the Web Page comes up asking for the Package Key, just ignore it and close the window (as you already have an account established), then the installation will continue... Then lanch the launcher and login with your existing Account Name and Password... (You did remember those, didn't you...)
Best bet when running into this is to check in with Billing Support. They are the only folks that can deal with issues regarding product keys.
There should be a phone number on the Billing Support page you can call, though that may be impractical if you're overseas.
You can probably bypass that registration page when it comes up, as the installer should still be working in the background, rather than halted awaiting a response.
you only need to activate the key once no matter how mat pc you install it on or how maytimes your reinstall. The key is tied to your account and not to the PC. When the enter key window appears just close the window and the installation will continue to install.
