Is it possible to ignore threads. I for one have had enough of this community acting like an old dog who just cant leave an old bone alone. Page after page, thread after thread, post after post, every time there is something that some one does not agree to, This forum becomes useless for day's after. Omg, they put in a skill cap, omg they put the game on sale, omg a dp, omg they gave life time subsripstions a blue name. Every last thread is just nothing but repeats of the same TRIBBLE that has been posted in a hundred threads that were made previously. These forums are not worth using anymore, I do not mind hearing anyones opinion, but I am tired of hearing the same opinion over and over because people are too lazy to read previous threads on the same subject. The game doesnt fail, but this community sure does. That's half the game people, keep up the good work.
Im sure the devs know which ones to listen to and which to take with a grain of salt. Its amazing how people ignore functions of a game or a website and froth at the mouth about quintessentially the same topics. Its the same across most MMO boards too.I do thank the gaming gods for the ignore command in game. One of the best features in todays games!:D
After playing for about a month now, i rate the game an 8 out of 10 easy and will recommend it to others.
Thanks for a great experience Cryptic!
You cannot ignore threads but you can ignore specific users. Simply click the posters name, select view public profile, then on the next screen click "Add <Username> to your ignore list."

I have to agree with you on that I am sick and tired of all those complains
if you don't want to participate in the discussion or read what others are saying on a topic, don't read the posts. all posts have a topic posted, no one is forcing anyone to view their topics, but some of us care to read what others are saying.

Completely agree with this.
The noise-to-signal ratio is way out of balance at the moment in these forums.
The same stuff keeps getting bumped back to the front page by the same people over and over again.
I would love the ability to never see some threads ever again!
I would also love the ability for the community members to be able to self-moderate by being able to "vote-to-close" specific threads.
If enough community members over some threshold vote that a thread should be closed for a specific reason (for example "duplicate thread, already covered elsewhere"), that thread could be locked and would quickly fade into insignificance.
Similarly a vote-to-sticky option would be a great addition too.
Given the right tools, this community could largely police itself to quickly remove most of the "Noise" and let the small amount of really useful content in the forums that is actually "Signal" be seen!

1.) This is a Forum, and those are discussions. If youve ever been a member of a forums. Youll know people blow things out of porportions and constantly make threads of the same subject. Mostly because they are lazy and dont feel like hunting down the older ones. But a subject being the focus of a forum for a few days is nothing new.
2.) Im not sure what youd actually expect to talk about if it isnt DP or some random idea that changes how the games mechanics works. I will agree the Skill Cap issue is overdone, mostly by a few key individuals that wont let things go. Somehow they are convinced they know whats best for everyone. The game on sale, thats really old in Forum terms. I havent seen a topic on that in weeks. And thankfully the blue issue died a pretty fast death. If it does reappear itll be in threads that have nothing to do with the blue topic.
Best advice is, go to another forums here in the STO forums. Theres plenty of other areas to chat about things. SF Academy, the Tac/Sci/Eng Forums, Escort/Science/Cruiser Forums. They arent as heavily trolled as here. They have specific topics and arent as general as a general discussion boards like here.
Actually, I can see the utility of this. Mark a thread "ignore", and it wouldn't come up on "Today's posts", the individual lists, etc.
I'm sure every one of us can think of many threads that started out great, then went south at Warp 10, and we never looked at it again. Why not have an option to exclude that thread from our searches, lists, and explorations?

It is a good advice.
