Why do the schedule maintenance during Euro peek times!

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
It seams every time I try and play this game at the weekends (almost the only time I have to play it) it's always down for maintenance.

It's a shame Cryptic don't put a bit more thought into the times they decide to do this. 1am - 3am PDT for example would have 8am - 10am GMT and a lot more resonable for Euro players. Perhaps being a US based company they've just forgotten that there are other places that exist outside of the US...

Quit whining. Let the Aussie's be known as the b!tchers. :D

Although can't really say that 10 to noon is prime time on a Sat here in the UK. Me thinks doth protest too much. 6pm to 8 pm here in Europe is more like real prime time. Just saying. ;)

As per the 100 other threads about this each time they do this, Its because its off-peak in the US, which is where the servers are, and the team work.

Cryptic does the maint at the time the fewest total number of people play. Any other time would affect more people. It has nothing to do with US time. If it did, they'd be doing it at 9am PDT (15:00 GMT), because that's when it would be most convenient since they'd be in the office.

It's simple math; lowest overall number of customers affected. That's how every MMO does this calculation, based on their own usage numbers.

Nope; it's not. It really isn't because of that. It's because it's the time when the least total number of people play.

Try to distribute down times per zone, it's not ok that always the same people get ****ed. Think a little better please.

And its even more fun when they run over an hour and a half late from their estimated restart.. Scotty would never do this.

Course, Scotty's estimates would be that servers will be down for at least two weeks :).

Agree. At 5AM in SouthEast US, I'm not exactly in gaming mode.

Please Cryptic look at your maintenance schedule and routines to exercise a better plan for your maintenance.

Australian and Asian players are been continually effected by the "scheduled" maintenances during their peak game times, we are paying customers as well. The word "scheduled" gets thrown around a lot, which is unfair since most of these are not routine and are in fact less than 16 hours notice. I like to plan the times I want to spend playing games.

I understand these are done at offpeak server times, but when they constantly impact a select group of people, thats still a group of people constantly being treated as a secondary customer base.

If your doing this to fix a game breaking bugs, we understand, but if these are minor cosmetic patches that could wait a few more days we would appreciate if you did so. Also any endeavours that can be made to reduce the actual downtime periods is also appreciated.

    Quit peeking during maintenance.
You can't bake a cake and open the oven every few minutes to check on it.

The more official name of this is "STO withdrawal syndrome". People just need a fix for the addiction, is all.

But seriously, a patch that needs 3 consecutive days of down time (though not continuous 72 horurs) reflects poorly on the capability of the programming and server teams at Cryptic. Not that I play MMO a lot, but this is the first time something like this happens. The worse I came across was an "emergency patch", but that happened on the 3rd day from day-of-patch. And just once, not twice, like now.

Let's hope this maintenance/patch works better.

Not even on a weekend would Chat count 14:36 as peak time.
Would call that sleeping time because of hangover.

Pitty the one who opens my oven when I bake a cake. *shows very very big spoon with spikes on it*

    Kitchen is mine!

and it is not prime time, but seeing it is a Saturday for this time it is a little annoying, but than it is a bug fix so cannot complain about those.

well sod the yanks, maybe they should kept the US & Europe servers seperate like WoW do. and all this TRIBBLE would be avoided.

erm to correct some of the people saying it isn't peak time.

The OP was referring to Peak times for australians as well, which, the patch began around 8:30 or 9pm, and all the way through to well after midnight still on a Saturday Night.

Can;t get much more peak time than that for Australia. That would be Australia's peakiest time of the week.

Myself, I personally don;t care. I'm happy they;re fixing the bugs.

More maintenance is good in my eyes.

Yes its constantly during times I can play most. I'm Australian.

But i also have other things I can go and do, so no big deal.

we all have other stuff we can go do. However, if you are really limited to certain windows you can play in, it dont really help. So we pay our money and if we can only play at weekends, then we are basically screwed.
