I'm trying to find a ground personal weapon that will really kick A$$. More specificly will cut through the enemeies personal shields and lay waste with heavy damage. Snipers do great in the lower levels but i'm RA5 and my sniper rifle does very little damage to shielded or unshielded emenmies. I heard high density beam rifles work good against borg, would this be a good option against shielded enemies like on the big dig?
There are no weapons that will do alot of damage at RA5. unless you go and kill somthing on t1.
The weapons are "balanced" so that killing somthing will take forever . Lets say you fight a borg
in a raid, he will take away your shields with 1 shot, then with a few more shots he will kill you. Just
like fighting a klingon in PvP .
What your job is is to run away bravly and consume alot of hypos in order to survive. and hope the rest of your team will help you kill the enemy with 20-30 shots. All weapons are the same, unless you do missions on lower lv as RA you weapons are borring and TRIBBLE. The devs just put new weapons in the omega store that will "help" against the borg, No they will not. they have a 10% to give radiation damage to the borg lol and offcourse they lowerd the other damage the weapon can do, so its the same. What ever weapon you use its TRIBBLE.
The thing is teamwork. Thats the only thing that will give you fun on a mission raid.
Edit: high density beam rifles are only good for pushing enemyes back. Lets say in the raid infected they
are really good for pushing the borg into the plasma.
To tear through enemies in ground combat, you need to make proper use of the expose/exploit mechanic and flanking damage; rather than rely on any particular weapon.
One tactic I have run around with is this - give all your away team expose weapons and you carry two exploit weapons. Having a split beam exploit also is nice here, but you'll typically get at least two or three NPC's to expose then nail them with the exploit shot and vaporize them. Switch back and forth on your guns and you should be able to disintegrate most of them.
Also, looking at the traits of your BO's can help too. If any have traits that lean towards exploiting - give 'em an exploit weapon. Sometimes .... sometimes they are "smart" enough to use it right.
Also, rifle-butting the NPC for a few times will expose them, then just use the exploit shot and poof ... bye bye.
Oh, then there's the Martial Arts too. That's always fun and good for exposing targets. Keep a weapon slot empty and just go at it with an NPC. When they expose "Z" switch to your gun and poof ... again, bye bye.
Sometimes, having the uber - kick-a$$ weapon isn't necessary. It's just knowing your tactics.
.....
Oh, for the Tac's - you get the Tactical Initiative ability for personal use (not a BO thing), basically resets all your ground timers and such. Well, call down your security escorts into a mission, wait a second or two and hit the Tac Init buff - call down two more Security Escorts. Now your "5" man away team just became 9. Yay, zerg rush.
The thing to remeber when fighting the Borg, is that their shields adapt to whatever type of weapon you are hitting them with, so if you are shooting them with an Antiproton Weapon their shields will adapt to Antiproton Weapons, if you then switch to a different type of weapon like a disruptor it should do more damage to their sheilds.
Target the borg, shoot with Antiproton Weapon until shields pop up, then switch to Disruptor or whatever else you are carrying, shoot until shields are down.
Most people seem to carry 2 weapons of the same type, Antiproton usually as they are easy to get very rare items. Also most people carry around eploit weapons as they probably have their bridge officers carrying Expose weapon. When you group with other captains try and get the group to use a range of expose and expliot wepons and also make sure you carry 2 types of weapon around with you.
I use 1 Antiproton Rifle and 1 Tetryon Rifle, both Exploit types, I also carry in my inventory 1 Antiproton Expose and 1 Phaser Expose weapon.

My escort is set up very nicely for quick and massive slaughter action, I'd like similar gear for ground combat as well...
Currently I switch between green gear split beam and phaser sniper rifles, any other suggestions???
