Errrmm.. No thats a packaged deal I think. I dont think Gamestop has the power to include 60 days free play time to a game. It doesnt work that way.

they can if they simply bundle it with a 60 day free time card. now without some sort of backing from atari it'd be a money loosing deal I would think but...

Yea they cant bundle stuff together and sell it for whatever they want. Cryptic has a say. Or Atari rather. Or both.

no they can, that was posed by a dev/mod on another thread, once atari have "sold" the games to the vendor they can do whatever they want with it

They can stick a time card with it too if they want? Really?

Those are two separate products.....well.....I guess anything is possible.

from what i understand atari sell the units to the vendor including time cards, what the vendor does with them after that is up to them, clearly gamestop are seeing a lack in sales and are offering sales to get rid of bad stock

this sale is more of a bad omen than atari offering sales, this means vendors are struggling to sell the product which means it isn't doing very well

one thing to be thankful of is cryptic got their 100,000 subscribers which will help keep the game running seeing as they did it on the cheap with one global data centre, that must be the biggest overhead, most mmo's have atleast 3 data centres

Yea maybe. But right now is around the time that GameStop has their big annual sale. A lot of games are 50% off. They have a huge sale like this once a year.

    Anyways, its about that time.

Uh, it's Gamestop's choice to do what they want. You can buy the base game for $30, so they include a 2 month game card so you pay $60 so where's the problem?

fair enough, i was using my own speculation on why they were offering a good sale at this time, i didn't relise this is normal business practice for them

Wow i go awy for under hour and boom lol nice thread lol. The package is for the collectors edition if I'm not mistaken. I was't saying it was atari or cryptics fault but might be a good idea on buying it if you want the extra 2 months. Did atari Pawn there extras off on Gamestop?

Come on guys, this isn't unusual for most games. Majority units sell at launch. Vendors have left over stock and want to unload. For the love- please get over it already.

Also don't cry here, it's gamestop hosting the sale.

I don't consider it a bad omen at all...

GameStop specializes in consoles and console games, none of the gamestops near me (4 total) carry any PC games at all, the only time you see a PC game at my 4 gamestops it is because someone ordered a game through them.

This may not be the same everywhere, but Gamestop is pretty much useless to PC gamers.

You do realize that this is completely different from the Atari sale fiasco, right? Atari is the publisher of the game. They were running the sale on their own store. This is a completely third-party store. Cryptic, nor Atari have any control over a Gamestop sale.

Gamestop is slashing the price ON THEIR OWN, and throwing in a standard retail timecard. I repeat, Gamestop is doing this on there own with all of their own merchandise. Atari and Cryptic have no control over the situation.

The 59.99 should be a total of 90 days, you get one month free and a 60 day game card that is 90 days. Not bad, pretty good deal.

A week after release I got the collector's from Game Stop for 59.99 they have been selling it for that price for quite a while now.

Yea its getting close to that time of the year for Game Stop. They have that big sale thing going on. They advertised it in the back of my Game Informer.

When they have the annual sale, its the time to buy some games. Im giving Rockstar my money during the sale. Im getting the Episodes from Liberty City on my PS3 (been waiting a long time) and then in May, Im getting Red Dead Redemption.

I like open world games. Only type I really truely enjoy. What can I say?

Oh yea, and the STO thing is a good deal. :)

Which is their right. Gamestop wants to sell their stock of the game so they are running a sale using things they have in stock (retail copies of the game and retail timecards). As I said, neither Atari or Cryptic have any say over this sale.
