I have submitted tickets about this, and at the time they only changed someone's @ handle if they had the same handle as their account name. Is it possible or will it be possible to change it otherwise? Even if it costs cryptic points?
That would be your handle that you want changed. You should post again in this thread after the weekend so that someone from Cryptic who could point you to Customer Service is likely to see it.
Your @Handle is basically your real online identity. Your Name is just a mask you wear for a certain period of it. Obviously, the @Handle change is going to be very complex. Unlike your Name, which is only specific to you, your @Handle has to "jive" with every other player both here and on Champions.
Under certain circumstances you can request an @Handle change. I'd assume they're most likely when your @Handle and your actual login name are the same. I asked for a change for what I felt was a legitimate reason, and was denied. So, don't be surprised if you get denied too.
FINALLY - take a look at the Engineering reports - @Handle change tools are in the works. Expect this one to take some time and extra special care, because I imagine if they make an error here it could ruin your whole account. Personally, I think some calm patience on our part, and a big "Thank You Cryptic for making this happen!" is important - after all - when the guy's trying to defuse a quantum torpedo, do you really think it's in your best interestes to go up and shake him and get in his face with a bunch of demands? I thought not.

You need to read this FAQ...
Question: How do I Change my Online Handle?
Answer: If your online Handle is the same as your Username we would be happy to change your displaed online handle! Please log in and send us a Billing Support ticket with the three names you would like, in order of preference, if your first choice is unavailable. Keep in mind that trademarked or copywritten names are not acceptable.

Good to know. I recall sending a PM to one of the CR people requesting a handle change before I figured out how to turn those off in game.
But across different mmos it does seem like if you request it nicely more than likely you can get it done eventually. I favor getting a tool in for it though and am glad to know they're working on it.
Over the course of Eight or so years of playing mmos I've had a few handles I typically use all the time but sometimes you get to launch then think... well... I wish I'd have used this other one instead.

Be forewarned the only two reasons I have known them to change an @handle is if it is the same as your log-in name or if it violates the naming rules. If that is your log-in name, do not reveal that fact here on the forums.
Am I the only one that has tried the name change token? Anyone else explain to me how to change the long name of the character as well?
You need to buy the token from the C Store then when you log in and select your toon you can change the name. I did this and it wasn't until they changed the wording that you even knew how to changed the name.

Go to the character UI (where you equip weapons and kits) and click the button along the bottom that says "Rename". No token required.

That is, until the implement the Handle change tool...

Also, I was expecting this to be the @handle change, not monetizing something trivial.

This process can take a bit of time. Be patient.
