and the "rift" theyre creating

Anyone here play Hellgate: London? I know Im a broken record on this, but still. The manner in which all the things theyre doing for the Lifers is being turned into something horrible by the non ltssers is exactly how it was recieved over there when theyd do something for their lts base vs their sub base. So if Bill Roper can do ANYTHING right, he should at least tell them that bit of info, as he seems to hang out with Jack enough.

In reference to your previous posts I am simply going to give you this advice, state that I understand your frustration, and then leave this thread quietly.

The problem I see is that, unless Cryptic didn't do anything for anyone, this rift would be created. However, if they didn't do anything for anyone, some people would complain, then the people who understood why would just be labeled "fanbois" and the rift would be there anyway.

Shhh... maybe if we go back to talking about Star Trek... people will stop making an issue out of it...

Andorians are blue... nobody seems to mind... just sayin'....

Heh, you wouldn't think that was a divisive subject, but you should have seen the epic flame wars on the TrekBBS when it was revealed the Andorians wouldn't be the right shade of blue, nor have ice powers, in Enteprise.

For pity sakes its a blue name and a title.

My life is now incomplete without that PERK, I've been shat upon. Give me a break guys go play the game and enjoy yourselves or whatever you do that brings joy into your life. I'm pretty sure your ship is still the same as it was and your weapons hit just as hard as anyone elses' and there's a new raidisode to play and more fun to be had what are you doing in the forums anyway?

No this game has been out for nearly 2 months. Not until now was there any kind of real rift going on. So that doesnt really fly.

So us lifers just imagined being called stupid for buying an LTS?
So those of us that like the game are never told we're easily amused because we like it?

Yeah, there's never been a rift on these forums between two opposing viewpoints, with one feeling superior in some fashion, huh?

Oh Kirkfat... I'm so glad you asked! The Cryptic Preferred Opinion is that all subscribers, regardless of subscription duration, be considered as equals. So, you are equal to jedidethfreak, and he is equal to you. You both have an equal voice here on the forums, and in Cryptic Studios Offices, and are both very valued members of the community! Isn't it wonderful?

    Q

A vast majority of us on the forums know this. I posit that, for that vast majority, it is nothing more than a bit of fun. However, I do understand that, for reasons of forum peace, such activity may be in poor taste. However, by granting the bonuses in the first place, such ruckus was inevitable, as some people just "don't get it."

    Q

It doesn 't appear that way.
Its Cryptic management choices that have brought about a two tier customer base.
One gets platitudes, the other gets More Cotent. :)

Even getting a warning from him for a joke post is epically awesome, considering the warning is typed actually in context to what's going on.

I don't buy that there is a rift.

There are a few lifers tired of being made fun of who are (unfortunately and immaturely) lashing out.

There are a few people who have already been skittish or complaining about the game for other issues and they've latched onto this as a means identifying and trying to stir up anyone else who isn't a lifer because misery loves company and because there is a fundamental (and sad) human impulse that compels some people to justify their opinions by trying to get people to see the world the way they do instead of leaving everyone to their own opinion.

If this was pre advertised in the Lifetime subs in the first place I think there would have been a lot less hassle when it was introduced. People don't like suprises that mean other people get things and they don't, it's a basic fact of life, despite how trivial the bonuses are. A PR exercise that could have been handeled better by cryptic IMO.

Despite that I hope all Lts's enjoy there perks as I can't see the big deal myself another 'social' area ingame, most likely I would never use, and a forum name colour change is hardley anything spectacular

THIS is actually accurate. Ive seen it, Ive been called an idiot for being an LTS, as I said in another thread, the pendulum is swinging again. It used to be that the mods here were punishing the fan-types more than the "haters" then it swung the other way after a while. Same thing here, essentially

No, no there wouldn't. People were mad over the bonuses that WERE advertised, namely the Liberated Borg Captain and the two character slots.

I fully support benefits to Life Time subscribers.
They have made a large financial commitment and they should be thanked for their support.
Its the timing that troubles me....
This game is desperately in need of new places.
Cryptic chose to use employee hours creating this Exclusive place for Lifers to the detriment of the game community as a whole.
This has come to early in my opinion.

Cryptic didn't choose anything. A few devs did this on their personal time, after hours.

Nothing was taken away from the development of this game for these bonuses.

Can you give me the link or confirm you read a post from Dev saying that?
