Why doesn't 'distribute shield power' do what it says and share existing shield power out? As far as I can see if one shield is down and the other three intact then selecting this has a minor effect on the zeroed shield, and seems to drain the other three to only a small degree , the description implies (to my mind at least) that shields will equalise and I'll get 3/4 shielding all round in this case. With an escort I'm doing head on attacks, and would like to boost forward shields at the expense of side and rear, selecting to boost the forward shield (up cursor default key) seems to have a fairly small effect in that direction, and the shield distribution clearly does nothing like equalise all shields, even on power setting to max shields out I'm finding my shields are like tissue these days while my cannons have been, to a degree, nerfed.

With respect to the above, and the description of these misnamed (?) functions, what does 'Toggle (2 max)' mean? What does 'Targets self 0.5 sec activate' mean? (The target self is pretty obvious, err, obviously).

Could we please have (or could someone tell me the option I haven't selected correctly) a view that lets me sit behind the tail of my ship, so I can see where the nose is pointing, whilst the current target is in view? (No, pressing X doesn't do this). With a 45 degree firing arc I find I have to keep dragging the view with the mouse as I try to keep the target in my forward arc, any lateral movement and in no time I'm looking at my ship side on instead..... Anything that allows me to judge reasonably accurately which way to turn, and by how much, to bring cannon to bear - in a real starship I doubt the captain would have to guess this all the time. This may be a keypress I have missed in 'options', but it's another annoyance that still leaves me mashing the fire key only to find the bad guys chortling as they pass by unharmed.

Some nice bits in the latest patch, on the plus side, although I don't see them changing my game much I can see things moving the right direction, I think.

    It would distribute shield power equally, but it has such a short duration that your shields regen stat doesn't allow it to go all the way to what you want.

    Thanks, that makes more sense - in effect it's a pretty useless option then...I imagine that 0.5s bit tells you 'this will start to redist, but will only do it for half a second'. Thanks again, it's nice to get sensible replies on here.

    It works for about five seconds, but your shield regen is every six, IIRC. The 0.5 to Target Self is how long after you activate the skill it takes for it to actually do something.
