Uniform - Costume Pieces - Suggestions

Having played in games that allowed for a lot of individual customization (City of Heroes, Anarchy Online, etc) and games that didn't (EQ2, Warhammer, etc.), I believe that more is always preferable to less. Granted that a large part of this game is tied to established canon however, I think that everyone would agree that this game EXPANDS upon the future of the canon material. This is the point in the continuity where the Federation is faltering, the quadrant is one large war zone, and some of the rules of old have gone out the window.

At present, I have only worked my way through about half of the content (Science - Capt. 8, Engineer - Lieu 9, Klingon - lvl 19 (deleted) ), but I still have seen a large amount of the various NPC models. There is already costume design elements in play for everything from Orion pirates to Risan partygoers to Reman warriors.

I don't think it would be detrimental to the game to open up the costume designs on player characters (and BO's) to include set pieces from the NPC character libraries. If someone wants their male Bolian character to have his off-duty uniform consist of knee length pants from Risa, or a Ferengi wants his female BO's to be dressed as Dabo girls, why not throw it into the mix.

If the NPC characters are stored in the same format as characters, as they are in most games, then it is just a matter of opening up the costume options to the general population. Make individual pieces for the expanded costumes as purchasable items, not on the C-store, but with Energy Credits. After all, you worked your way up to RA5, you deserve to treat yourself to something nice. Might I suggest a nice pair of sandals for walking around DS9 on your day off?
