Suggestion: change the "lifer anomaly" to a transwarp gate

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Having a big glowing anomaly right next to Earth just looks werid, not to mention contradicts the shows/movies. So please change it to a transwarp gate(something that at least makes sense) or move it elsewhere.

I agree, the sol system looks rediculous as it is, no need to add more weired clouds

On that note, it's a little annoying when you're ready to leave the capt.'s table - you have to warp out to earth, then warp out to sector. It would be convenient if it would just dump you out into the sector the first time.

Why not just make it a room or series of rooms on SB1?

Or just let us lifers have two transwarp buttons. One to Sol, one to the Captains table, and when we leave the CT we end up back where we left from.

Because its a neutral shared Fed/Klingon station. It makes sense that it wouldnt be part of the Fed or Klingon's main HQ, but the anomaly thing doesnt.

Yes, a Transwarp Gate instead of an anomaly please.

Then just put a door in SB1 and on Klingworld that both go to the special instance. It's not like they're opposed to things making no ****ing sense. They dropped a wormhole 50 feet from earth.

Yeah, but you insist on calling doors "transwarp gates" for some reason. You probably don't get asked directions at your office more than once, I'm guessing.

If the concept is based on the novels, then it certainly should be an actual doorway in Sol station or on Qo'nos, rather than a glowy portal or Transwarp conduit in space.

    Or better yet...

Just make it an option in the dropdown menu.

Then lifers can go hang out whenever they please...

And non-lifers don't have to be assaulted with the visual gimmick screaming "Don't YOU wish you had $300 with nowhere better to spend it"

You seem to be confused. I'm not talking about any doors. If you read through the thread your replying to, its pretty easy to understand what is being discussed. At least, everyone else seems to :o

This is a better Idea. Honestly, I don' like the idea of a graphical representation of this nature hanging about any where. I contributes to the animosity that has arisen relating to lifers. It is almost like a conceptual target floating about in public spaces.

Yeah, but then I said it should be a door, to which you replied that that's what you were asking for, to which I replied about how those aren't usually called transwarp gates, to which you replied that you were not asking for doors.

That pretty much brings us up to speed, I think.

I would have been cool if we could have accessed the Captain's table through a door on our bridge. But then we would miss out on that beautiful outside of the station.

I think you mean animosity. Not in a mean, "you fail English" way. Just for clarity of reading.

In any case, the Captain's Table is supposed to be an inter-dimensional location with multiple entrances that appear only to particular individuals. We should have something like a teleport to it anyway.

I'm more of a big-picture guy. I like grand ideas and sweeping thoughts, not individual sentences.

Lol. How about when we leave, we warp into Sol system and scatter all the non-lifer ships like leaves? And maybe add herald angels with trumpets...

wow all your post's todasy are attacks, how do you get away with it, little here alittle there huh? So there is an anomoloy in space in a computer generated world. And it doesn't fit your sense of reality? And of COURSE this has nothing to do with the irritation shownn on ither threads regardin life subs? doesn't tie in at all no?

It's not the real world, the graphics are good but not THAT good, we dont need to go all google earth now to prove the same (now hidden) point.

I imagine that will be enoughto recieve gun fire, i guess i have earned it. Just have this coice in my head..regardless of risk's of infractions , threats or anyting lese I can help but feel angry that some members of this community are enjoying trying to vring it down.

Well it wont happen, it may not be perfect but there seems to be enough passion that we are alll STILL here. Something im lgad of btw...even with strange anomolies by earth, doors whatever lable fits your fancy.

The whole 'transdimensional bar' thing is wierd anyway, and I'm not sure why it was added. A bar in Starbase 1 would have worked just fine. And if it's because there needed to be a place for factions to meet in a neutral location... what about an embassy? Or Khitomer? Or not let us meet since we're at war?

It's just... another oddity in STO.

I like this idea, but it's not as useful as it might sound.

At least the CO lifetime lounge has amenities so there's a reason to get a transporter item to it, but until they add to the CT what the lounge has in CO, I don't see myself wanting to visit this more than once ever. Hearing the stories of old captains again and again would be repetitive unless there was more to do there. Seriously the entire place is like, for show.

But I agree the place to enter it from is oddly placed. Would be better if it was an option from Sector Space next to Sol as well, but that's just for the sake of convenience.

It's partially because you misread my throw-away comment that referred to his calling doors "transwarp gates" as some sort of an attack. You may just be gun-shy due to the lifer issue that's got all the hornets stirred up. It's understandable.

No thanks, it looks great where it is. Also, it can't contradict a show or movie, since none show the game's time period.

Without any explanation, it does. Just like it would contradict the shows if Earth didnt exist in game, without an explanation.

I agree with the OP.. This should be handled via a gate in sector space somewhere.. It looks silly where it is now.

Because the book series "Star Trek: The Captain's Table", about a transdimensional bar run by a being named "Cap", is very popular with the fans.
