Stupid question, but how can i earn more credits? Whether it be energy credit or merits, i'd like to know. See a lot of stuff i would like to buy, perhaps new ships but it's always a money thing. Is there a quicker way of earning more credits without having to go through different campaigns?
thats what i've been doing but find that some of the going rates are pretty poor. selling stuff on the exchange is pretty ridiculous as well since people tend to over price their loot. just wonder what other alternatives were out there.
I made ENORMOUS sums of money by savings up my Mineral/Data Samples and then selling them on the exchange. I recommend selling them one by one and put your price at half of what the lowest one listed is showing at. In some cases they were selling as fast as I was able to post them. So long as you aren't interested in doing crafting at Memory Alpha this is a great way of making money.
if you are willing to sit doing pvp which is alot of fun you can make alot of money that way tends to be 5k credits for each fight on a good night you can make around 100k
selling stuff on the exchange is probably your best option, set the price to be less then or only slightly higher then the value listed in the description, you're getting these drops and stuff for free anyway, so anything is a profit. If you sell stuff to vendors or the replicator, be careful who you sell it to. Regular vendors at starbases will give you 50% of the value, but others like Ferengi, Mudd, Freighter captains and the ship's replicator will only give you 40%
I tend to set my prices a bit above the listed value, sometimes a bit more for items that could be considered popular (turn rate consoles, for example). With the outrageous pricing for Admiral items now (sometimes 1000% above actual value), I tend to make money pretty quickly.

You know that the listed price is twice what you can get from a vendor? Just checking really. IF you can get that for it then why not.
I list my stuff for a little over half the listed price. I have sold everything I have posted. When I look to buy an item I never pay more than a little over half the listed price.
I have just started using the exchange. I have done OK.
I list my stuff for 75% of the "retail" value. I figure the buyer makes out well because he doesn't have to pay the full vendor price, and I make out well because I get more than the 40% or 50%. It's win-win. The only ones who lose on this deal is the vendors. Ha!
That said, the minerals, space garbage, whatever it is...it has no listed value. What can I get for those things?
Seriously, making money is this game is so easy. If you're RA5 and you don't have millions in your wallet, you're doing something wrong (or you're spending it all on blue items, which is ok lol)
Whatever loot you get, you check the exchange. If the lowest selling price is close to 50% of the item value shown in "show info", then sell it at the NPC vendor.
Otherwise, just sell it on the exchange lower than everybody else, and it's sold in minutes/hours
Those who set their sale price too high complained that 20 sell slots aren't enough. Sell it lower and it'll sell quickly, enabling you to sell more items.
If an item isn't sold in 24h, remove it and re-post it for sale 10-25% down from the first price, depending on how patient you are.
After a while you quickly know what's good to sell on the market and what's not.
Odd-numbered items are worth a lot less then even-numbered for obvious reasons.
green/blue engines, certain ship weapons (even if white) are worth a lot on the exchange whereas white deflectors aren't worth much on the exchange for example.
If you find green or blue items, sell them on the exchange. Do a search for the item you have to see how much people are paying, first. That way you can set a realistic price.
Basing your sale prices on the listed "value" is not a good method. The values are nearly arbitrary. The only reason to even look at the value is to make sure you're not selling for less than half, which is what an NPC will give you.
Of course you can sell the bidge officers that haven´t joined your crew yet.
Tho the blue ones won´t bring much money unless you´re lucky.
Go check the abilities.
You can really make loads of money selling the purple bridge officers that have grade 3 abilities.
I´m a tac officer and sold all my engi /science for 200k each (which is pretty cheap ). On the other side i got one who has beam overload 3 for 500k. Was worth the money I have to say.

Agreed. With my sci toon, I got bored doing the missions (the second time around they are boring...the third time it's just mind numbing) so I started doing deep space encounters and pretty much just did those the whole way...the amount of loot you pick up in those while getting credits and merits just for doing them adds up very quickly especially if you are selling the loot on the exchange. At RA doing the borg DSE and every now and then you'll pick up an induction stabilizer or mk x weapons or something very rare like blue mk x quantums (there wsa none on the exchange when I went to put them up....easy millions) or something else with a high exchange value...see it for a bit cheaper and it'll be gone in minutes half the time. At RA you'll be making around 5k merits every half hour too.
This one has to be the "Duh, I never thought of that..." idea
Have you noticed the markups on Disruptor weapons? they are all available at Retail to the KDF Klingons at their spaceport. Just create a character, and ship him some seed money. popular items include
Beam Arrays MK IV -VI - VIII
Turrets MK IV - VI - VIII
Duah Heavy Cannons MK IV - VI - VIII
A few weeks ago, A starter character could turn 1-2 Million ona weekend day...No work, just (a) buy at the spaceport, (b) list on the exchange, (c) take the Fed money that rolls in for free.
Why do people give away their hard earned money... ( No Comment
Here are some helpful pointers for the exchange:-
1 - While there are some items put up for sale at a crazily high amount, there are a rare few that are put up for below half their value. That means you can buy the item, go to the vendor and sell it for a profit.
2 - If you see an item that's quite a bit cheaper then all the rest, buy it and then put it back on the exchange for an increased price. This is a bit of a gamble though and you should only do it with items you're sure are going to sell. I've made a quick 50,000 credits in profit thanks to this.
3. Don't waste slots with odd numbered equipment (especially not phaser arrays or photon torps). Chances are the majority of such equipment is easy to get, so no one will bother looking at the exchange for it.

These are the people we like to put in the front of a PvP battle, and then turn away as they get blown into oblivion. EXPECIALLY when they do it with Memory Alpha items.
Every now and then you can make a large sum of fast cash on the exchange.
For example, last week, I bought a uncommon Quantum Torpedo Launcher MK VIII for $15,000 and then turned right around listed it for $175,000, and in about an hour, it sold. I made $160,000 in an hour, just buy being a bit observant on the items on the exchange. I also buy EPS Flow Regulators cheap and then sell them high, or anything that effects turn rates too, cuz cruisers suck in regards to turn rates, so people will buy them and stack them and such.
