On-board Ship-based missions/episodes?

Okay, I have only been playing STO for a little while (until my 10-day Guest Pass has expired), but I, personally, noticed something...
There appear to be no On-Board Ship-based missions/episodes... (I am sure other players have already mentioned it, so I will repeat it here in my own words.)

What I mean is... You are flying a ship with a presumably large crew, with multiple decks that have multiple rooms (sick-bay, engineering, science labs, lounge, cabins, holodeck?)...
Why can't you be toodling along in space, when you get a pop-up about an event happening on your ship, and whether or not you want to deal with it personally, or let the crew/BOs handle it...
(If you let the crew handle it, you bypass the event, so you don't have to be bothered if you have something more important to do.)

For example:
- There's been a murder on your ship, a crewman has turned up dead under mysterious circumstances.
- You re-map to Sick-Bay to have the medical officer brief you on the autopsy.
- The autopsy reveals that the crewman died from deliberate radiation exposure from some type of weapon.
- The Science BO informs you that traces of the same radiation has been found in a cargo bay.
- You re-map to the cargo bay, and scan for radiation emissions
- You find the murder weapon, but it is clean of traces. However, the containment capsule for the weapon was damaged, so the suspect has been lightly dosed.
- You follow the trail to a small science lab, and find the suspect.
- The suspect is a spy, and attempting to sabotage the ship; fight ensues.
- You stun/kill the suspect, and report to Starfleet of the results of the event.

That is just one example of a possible On-board Ship-based episode. The potential for other such missions is nearly infinite, or as much as the number of -all- Star Trek TV episodes, regardless of variant.
For example:
- Tribble infestation
- Space junk infects the ship with disease/malfunctions
- Nanite experiment results in ship/crewman-eating goo
- Crew abductions from a segment of sub-space
- Invasion of energy-entity possessing the crew
- Crewman experiencing strange effects that need to be investigated
And the list goes on...

Again, I assume this has already been mentioned... I also assume it hasn't been implemented because of the potential of the 'irritating pop-up' while trying to complete a mission/episode...

Just my 0.02 energy credits worth...

While it has been mentioned before, I think it deserves to be mentioned again! Episodes like this would also be very, very 'Star Trek', and as such, a welcome addition to the day-to-day of any Captain. Or at least this Captain.

I would say as well that it wouldn't even necessarily need to be a pop-up, but could be communicated normally through the 'Hail Starfleet' function, though instead of some Admiral talking to you, it would be your Tactical Officer, or your Science Officer giving you the initial briefing

I want something like this! This is a good way to inject some much needed "trek" into the game. Now we just have to convince them to speed up the ship interiors :)

Just to say, the On-board, Ship-based missions wouldn't necessarily need or require custom ship rooms, but could just use generic maps for, like, sick bay, cargo holds, science labs, crew cabins, etc.
It would be like a Ground-based mission, but located on your ship, rather than on a planet, in a base/station, or on another ship...

But later, if the On-board, Ship-based episodes -also- included your customized rooms on your ship (bridge, lounge, holodeck, sick bay, etc.), that would make the experience even that much more -cooler-! :D
