The Lifers have perks. They have shiny new toys and playthings. ON this very serious topic I say SO WHAT?!
Stop with the petty jealousy and envy. Who in the hell cares that these individuals, who made an 'on faith' payment of $300.00 or more are rewarded for that faith? SO their forum name is blue. So they have a captain's table. So what?
Please, griefers, stop with the grief. It's giving the rest of us non-lifers a bad name.

Personally, I think that complaining about forum names is nuts. No one is better than anyone else. It is our actions that will set people apart. If you act like a jerk people will treat you as a jerk. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wasn't your clicking that button to show your LTS status an action? Technically speaking...
People need to remember alot of these people complaining havent played the game since launch. They simply come here to create havoc and pull more people to their idea STO is a horrible game. There is absolutely nothing about the "perks" I would even call game changing. Or community changing at that. They get a shiny blue name. Yay for them....Ive listed how the "perks" dont amount to much of anything before. Its just a tip of the hat to the Lifers, thats it.

lol nice one.
Also setting a group apart, whether better or worse than another, in any respect due to monetary circumstances is probably one of the most un-trek like things one could do.
You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please everyone some of the time, but you can never please everyone all of the time.
STO is a case in point.
Not a lifer myself, but I have no problem seeing others get more for what they paid for.
lifers subscribed for a lifetime subscription, theres no need to shower them with gifts, it does cause envy because theres alot of people who can't affored to spend $200 in one go but we're all paying customers so stop treating one group of players better than the other
I'm not happy that monthly subscribers are being treated as less important customers, its not a very good way to treat us
With all the other problems that STO has. Whining about a person with a 'blue' name on a forum, and the fact they can sit at a table made of pixels.....well.....do I need to say more?
As much as another thread about this is unnessessary, OP I thank you for a point-of-view that I wish others could only share. I hope others will heed your advice.

the forum update was a great idea, its nice to know who we need to chase with pitchforks

Where have they made it a point to treat you like a less then important customer?
They had an event on Tribble last weekend with perks for ANYONE that attended for only an hour. Thats right, all you had to do was show up, not test or actually do anything, just show up. Those perks were an appreciation to those helping the Devs spot check their work after it gets past the QA. To me that was a "Hey, we appreciate everyone" type of gesture. They didnt have to do it. But they did. It also shows that Cryptic is willing to give back to the community. Which means the monthlys at some point will find themselves thanked by Cryptic for sticking with them.
For the 200 dollars they paid, these perks amount to nothing. Just some pixels, with no substance to them. Almost everything they got was cosmetic. If your going to argue about cosmetics. How about you yell about how you were able to get a particular preorder item because it wasnt in the box you bought while your at it.

The playerbase was never really that cohesive to begin with. There are a certain number of lts who will lord anything over the non lts just to create controversy. Give lts a special forum color and it creates the perception that there are two classes on the forums now lts and non lts. It's just a recipe to create more dissent on the forums. probably in a little while it won't matter anyway as they really haven't added anything that will keep monthly subs around until july. But look on the brightside, all the lifers can sit in the captain's table and wait for them to turn out the lights.
I'm not gunna complain, But I'm still gunna call them the Blue Meanies, cuz in my favorite Beatles movie Yellow Submarine the Blue Meanies were the bad guys and i like to make the weirdist movie referances i can!
Personally speaking, I don't mind the 'blue' names. It just makes me chuckle knowing that they got suckered...I mean .....They had more money than sense. *smirk*

It's funny how people trivialize decisions and actions they might dislike. I chose a lifetime sub not to snub others of any kind of financial status. I did it to save money. Also I wanted to show my commitment to this game that I was in it for the long haul. There are many that are in the position to buy a LTS and have not because they just did not want to make the commitment.
I could really careless what the Lifers have. I have an exclusive area that only myself and friends can get into with it's own channel. Heck everyone does. Called the bridge and a private chat room. Only you have a say who can go there.
Does it cause envy if I buy something off the C-Store and you don't?
Thats different. What might upset people would be if they decided to get people who bought an expensive item bonus items that weren't mentioned, and those who bought the lower items get nothing.
What I think upset some people was a few blues acting like big shots, like they were better than non-lifers, it makes a two class system, we're not all just paying customers, some are special and need to be identified as such.
But a lot of the blues want to have it both ways. They want to say it's nothing, the bonuses aren't anything special. Which is a slap in the face to cryptic who obviously put time and effort into coming up with these ideas and making them happen. From what I saw, the Captain's Table looks pretty good.

lots of LTSers have been acting self important since OB without a blue name. now we know if they really do have LTSs or not.

Technically speaking... I suppose so.
Maybe I am just bitter cause I have already been slapped by one of the Captain's Table waitresses. I dont' know.
I'm not happy that monthly subscribers are being treated as less important customers, its not a very good way to treat us
you could always make your own table... the table is only as good as the ppl who sit at it
where? i can only see the federation and klingon factions ingame

LOL that is good. I like that.
It does make getting into the mob mentality easier, that's true. +1 for Cryptic there.

perfect
though tbqh, on a curse related site i go to curse subbers get a blue name and we all make fun of them for it.
on the other hand it's interesting to see out of all the people that claimed to have LTS, who has blue names now and who doesn't.
