The Greatest STAR TREK Event(s)

Last night, I visited the new Lifers' Lounge. It seems like a pretty smallish place, for now, filled with promise for a bright future.

I saw different Captains, friends and foes alike. Captains from the present, and the past... And then... it hit me! "What If"... I thought to myself, what if I were to turn a corner and meet Capt. Data, Ambassador Picard... or even... James T Kirk himself?

Naturally, it wouldn't be difficult for Cryptic to create unique graphic models for these special trademarked characters, and a story could be created to explain how they can all visit this place from where-ever and when-ever, but... the thing that excited me most about this, was the thought that these characters would actually be played by the actor who played the role on TV or in the movies!

Growing up in a country where STAR TREK Conventions sounded like the stuff of legends, as in it'd be legendary to even get the airfare let alone ticket money, this option excites me terribly, to be able to have Cryptic + CBS hold special events starring the most famous Captains of them all, and of course other cast members of the various STAR TREK shows.

I bet that for these events, Cryptic could even sell special passes to the Lifers' Lounge, in the C-Store, so... would anyone else be interested in seeing something like this at all? :)

if this happens only at the new cool lifers station......then we have a 2 class economy...

    whats next ?

new ship interior only for lifers ?
    stf's only for lifers ?
palyable romulans only for lifers ?
non lifers have to pay extra to play with lifers ?

    come on...

what should people do who have not enough money for lta ?
clean the toilets on your ships ?

    please dont divide the economy...

It's easy to do that. It's also extraordinarily expensive, and those resources could be spent on things for the whole base.

The station was done in people's spare time using existing art assets. It was effectively free, or nearly so. Paying CBS for the rights to Hikaru Sulu, and George Takei for the rights to his likeness, and bringing a production staff into the studio to record his dialog; those aren't free. They're very, very expensive.

This would be awesome; don't hold your breath for it to happen, or to happen a lot if it does happen at all.

So, you missed the part where I suggested that Cryptic could sell special passes to these events on the C-Store...?

Indeed, but what a way to re-introduce STAR TREK to the world on an occurring basis, without actually releasing a new movie every year ;)

Also, do not forget the option to use sound-a-likes when recoding voices, and also the fact that CBS and Cryptic could come to whatever internal business arrangement they like without it decreasing the funds Cryptic has, especially if special passes are sold to the public just to witness such events.

Believe me, it would be awesome if they simply put Data/Picard/Janeway/Kirk/etc NPC's in the game which you could meaningfully interact with — e.g. think about going 1v1 with Worf or 7of9 ;) — but I'm not holding my breath for anything to happen, I'm just holding my breath in awe of the business potential which will cause me to gasp in disappointment were it to go untapped.:o

That is what I was thinking, but forgot the context.
I was walking through yesterday thinking, "I am sure this idea was taken from somewhere, but done alot better....". Hitchikers guide.

Because I was wondering why any of these starfleet officers would want to really hang around here. the logic surrounding the place escapes me.
They have jobs. Family. Friends. And they go to a bar that doesnt' exist in space and time and sit on a sofa. No responsibilities?

But in case of emergency, you can call someone on a gold course.
You can't call someone in another reality.

Actually, it's STAR TREK's version of Pocket D.

Well, the idea wasn't to pay to hang around with the Lifetimers, but rather to hang out with cool STAR TREK characters like Data, Picard, Kirk, Janeway, 7of9, Word etc....
