Guys,

I am a casual player, I don't have the time to look up or experiment with all kinds off weapons. For a science vessel, Captain or higher up, what do you guys have for weapons and consioles in there? What devices?

Would love to hear your suggestions.

    Hi, Robert.

I'm a casual answerer. I don't have the time to look up stuff either or describe my game experiences, but I enjoy replying to things.

I use Dual Beam Phasers in the front with a quantum torpedo launcher, and 2 phaser banks and a quantum torpedo launcher in the back.
Phasers or Disruptors still seem to be the best weapons to use at captain and admiral tier, as the skills boosting tetryon and polaron or what they are called are more expensive for the same benefit, and the weapons aren't really better.

With Engineering Consoles, I boost Shield Power and turning rate. It seems though that EPS consoles are all the rage elsewhere, so what I do I know?
I don't know how the consoles are called, but I tried to pick those that boost the Bridge Officer skills I actually use (Jam Sensors, Tractor Beam, Science Team, scramble Sensors, Viral Matrix)
Tactical Consoles boost Phaser weapons and Beam weapons. (I am not sure if that's better than boosting phaser or beams with both, don't know how stacking works with that).

Whether this is actually the optimum? I don't know. But it's certainly enough for casual play in regular missions.

You really are better off in the Science forums for this.

But... I use all phasers. 1 Dual Beam Bank, 1 Beam Array and one Quantum Torp Launcher in the Fore and 1 Phaser Turret, 1 beam array and a Quantum Torp in the Aft.

For engineering I have 1 EPS Flow Regulator and one console to boost my Aux power levels (which improves many science abilities.

For science consoles I have a console for Spacial Anomolies, a couple for Deflector Dish and one for Deflector Array

Tactical I have 2 boosting beams/phasers (can't recall which ones I went with now) and one to boost Projectiles.

The consoles you take (particularly for science) however will really depend on which science abilities you pick up and what system they are linked to. The tooltip for each ability should now show you what system it relates to.

In terms of ranking skills your best bet is to visit the science section of the forums where there is a great thread that shows which skills should be ranked up for which abilities.
