That was the question I was gonig to ask last night.

That is a pretty good way of implementing a "spoiler' or a "feeler" of what is to come, IMHO.

    I hope it wasn't a red herring.

    Stick to canon.
Keep the Breen mysterious, their motives unknown.
They showed suprising loyalty to the Founders during the Dominion War.
    Why is unknown.
    Keep it that way.

It was a running joke through the star trek series that when ever anything bad happened, there, amongst the usual suspects where the Breen although they had never been in a single episode.
This changed towards the end when DS9 decided to put them in, but despite numerous mentions previous to this they where unknown to us.
Apparently they used to name drop them when ever they could, i think the devs are just playing along with this "tradition" and decided to make the concierge in the Captains Table mention it. I doubt its a sneaky peek at a future patch, but we never know what those wily devs have up their sleeves!!

Yeah but the founders ditched them. And I was just going on a wierd tangent, they might align themselves with the Klingons as they have come out as the dominant power in the quadrant, or sneak attack them. Who knows, prior to the Dominion war I believe they were thought to be extinct/absent (I never got into DS9).

At the new Captains' Table base, as you enter, the receptionist starts to say something about the Breen, but then stops herself on the grounds that 'you aren't supposed to know that yet'. I'm sure it's just a tease.

The Lifetime Subs get this special space station that doesn't exist in normal time and space.
You can go there and see some pretty cool stuff.

Anyways, the consierge has a memo for you, and it is from the future and something about a breen plot, when the consierge realizes he can't give you the memo yet, he quickly stops.

The Founders did not ditch the Breen.
They were present at the signing of Dominion War Armstice with the Founder.

Yeah, I thought the little Breen spoiler was a nice touch to add in. I'm wondering how many folks never even talked to her to get that tip.

And remember the Romulan saying: "Never turn your back on a Breen".

The Breen were always a shifty people.
You hardly heard anything about them.
And then suddenly, there were a lot of them.
They have no blood, which makes it even more odd.
They are definitely an alien kind of alien. So similar, and yet not.

The Breen aren't exactly that mysterious. They have been around since early TNG, they have been stated to be extremely xenophobic, somewhat selfish, and extremely technologically advanced. They made a pretty predictable alliance with the Dominion in exchange for territory gained from the war, most likely caused by dominion infiltration of their government, just like everyone else. (Remember the Breen in the Dominion prison station?)

Cool, yes. Mysterious? Hardly, well, unless you wish to know what they look like. Word is they are furries. (based on arctic wolves, specifically)

No idea. But as the Romulans say, never turn your back on a Breen.

if they are extremely xenophobic why would they ally with aliens? If they are selfish why would they help someone else take over the alpha quadrant? If they are extremely technologically advanced why wouldn't they just take it for themselves?
