Strategy Thread

I created this thread, hopefully to catch the eye of the devs. Every patch can have a positive or negetive impact on in game strategy. There are currently three claases of officers and three classes of ships(Federation side). I would like to start this thread by explaining my character class and ship class. I play most MMO's as a dps class. From the three character classes Engineer, Tactical, Science officers; I chose Tactical. The kits designed for this class seems to be trageted toward dps. From the three ship classes Cruiser, Escort, Science; I chose Escort. The large capacity for tactical device slots, higher tactical officer assignment, and high maneuverability. I used the increased weapons power and increased maneuverability to pick a spot in the enemys shielding and punch threw. Tactics dictated I burn through shields and place a few torpedos into their hull to earn the kill. To acomplish that I would enter the fight with full weapons power(which meant droping out of full impluse before engaging to build back up power). I would then just barely enter weapons range and stop. At admiral level i would be equipted with 2 forward cannons(for maximum dps) two forward torpedoes(for when the shields drop) and three aft turrets to increase dps forward. With attack pattern alpha increasing my dps i would fire both forward cannnon and all three aft turrets. In the first few seconds a few things would happen. The enemy would commence attack run aka fly torwards me exposing forward shields to my constent barrage, and launch his own barrage at me. With the limited shielding an escort has i would have to redirect power to forward shields so they don't eat my face. I would then fire my torpedos at the hopefully open spot where their forward sheild used to be. With this new update however that tactic is out the window. Changing weapons in mid fight now draws more weapon energy effectively emptying your clip after first round of fire. I don't have to tell you what happens to an unarmed escort. I now die during each engagement, because i now run out of power(thank god they didn't add death penaltys). Anyone have any sucessful tactics I can employ as my escort. The increase in wepons drain should'nt effect the ability driven science vessal, or the crew driven crusier class. I was thinking of rolling a new class, now that my escort has been handicaped.

    We all use guns too.

Anyways, your problem would be solved quite easily by a bit of RSP and keeping all the energy for the guns.
