Since we will be comitting to a higher amount of monetary support for STO, how about implementing a Veteran's Reward program so that we have at least a chance of showing that we supported the game as much as a lifetime sub.
Bit early don't ya think? I may have not signed up at launch but we are tallking 2 months of paid subs, max. What kind of reward would you like?

Nothing.
Im requesting a program not a reward ... this would require implementation. As such its something that won't be available right now. However, it will be something I could benefit from in the future IF I CONTINUE with the game.

Thank you in advance for support of this request.
If you think about it the monthly people win either way...if the game blows hardcore after 250 dollars worth then we can undercut the lifers, if it doesn't then we still get a good game and retain the ability to use our monthly subs as bargaining chips.
I'd like some incentive to keep playing from them, perhaps some new ship variants that only seasoned monthly people can get, perhaps an EC bonus from my starfleet...w/e
I'd be fine with this. I'd even be fine with 16 month rewards being the Liberated Borg.
I don't think vet rewards should exclude lifers but I have no problem with lifer perks becoming vet rewards at the 16 month mark and beyond.
My one proviso and this is something I've put a lot of thought into, brainstorming MMO ideas... I think vet rewards should be for consecutive months subscribed as opposed to total months subscribed. You reset if you leave for a month.
That encourages people to stick around. Even WoW would have more subscribers than they do if people didn't come and go so much. Behind every bulk gametime plan and lifetime package is the idea of getting people to pay for time in blocks rather than filtering in and out and maybe taking a month or two off to try another game that may snatch them away.
I think the solution is vet rewards for CONSECUTIVE subscribed months.
Lifers already paid 20 months worth of money after "future" currency inflation
So for Vets, I presumed you are gonna paid near that amount? That you get a spanking "Veteran" title, and perhaps a lieutenant's table area for access. heh.
Continuous subs? or sub 1 month annually for next 20 years?
Jokes aside. There might be a rewards system. Most MMO has them.
I don't know why every1 is moaning about lifers getting extra items it was stated at launch they would. I like the idea of incetives but most mmos don't give them just for having an account so it should be at least every 6 months min. Most offers are for pre ordering , lifetime subscribers or gettin new players like in wow or lotro. Sure you may have paid more in the long run but that's not cryptocs fault you had the option for life. But if they do start incentives the items will most likely by for both norm and lifers anyway.
Once someone has reached 15 months/$300 in sub fees I wholeheartedly feel cryptic would be foolish not to award them for their support and a thank you of some sort for the future for paying above and beyond a LTS.
Keep this thread alive and hopefully a dev might post on it.
Veteran Rewards are a great option for any game. I support this idea fully. I suspect its probably coming anyways, since Cryptic did one of the best Vet programs ever in CoH.

after tonight I hope they put their heads together and make an official announcement. It would go a long way in quelling these mixed feelings a lot of people seem to have.

Ive always been a fan of the idea. Absolutely. They did it with CoX if I remember correctly.
And of course the lifetime subs would get all of them, because, well, they are here for a lifetime anyways!
So its just plain good for everyone. And everyone feels appreciated then.
Way too early to talk about Veteran Rewards! Besides let them finish the game really before talking about things to add that we really don't need.
I enjoy STO, but I think if they would have withold with the release until Season 2 (which hopefully will add more Klingon PvE and make the game more complete) the game would have been far more successful and would have also got better reviews.
I don't know who made the decission to release the game early and I don't care really (too late now).
Cryptic should really concentrate to finish the game now and fix most of the issues. And THEN we can talk about Veteran rewards and stuff.
An award? For what? If you like the game then continue to pay your sub and play it. If you DON'T like the game, go your merry way. But asking for a reward just because you like playing a game? Sheesh. Hey, I know Howabout a reward for breathing! Every 100 breaths you take the government gives you a plaque! Wait, does that sound ludicrous? Well, it's no more ludicrous then asking for a reward for playing a game.
We already GET a reward. It's called 'fun'. If you're not getting that reward, then you're playing the wrong game.
If it will curb the nerd rage, I don't mind if lifers don't get the vet rewards and only monthly subbers can get them.
Or a mix of the two--
I.E: set two different reward paths, with Lifers getting Vet-reward-like perks while monthly subbers wait for the program to launch, then over time, end the lifetime subscriber perks around the 16-20 month mark (since they're playing for free anyway... keep consumable perks between both groups like free respecs or yearly character slots, etc.) and make the Lifetimer perks gradually available to the vet reward program working backwards on and up to the LTS Channel and Captain's Table around the 36-48 month mark. (If you've been in for four years, you deserve anything an LTS subscriber gets since you've paid 2x-4x the LTS amount.)
Again, IF it will curb it. Something tells me otherwise. (Do nothing, complaints. Do something, complaints. Both the results the same, may as well "do", right?)

And yes, I'm a monthly subscriber.
I think you might be missing the point of a Vet reward. Veteran Rewards are an extra way to encourage players to maintain their subscriptions and keep playing in the long term. Rather than running off to the next bright shiny object. A way they can say 'Thanks we appreciate your continued business.'
Anyway, last time I checked, I did not have to pay the Government a monthly fee to Breathe.
if any vet rewards come out lifers should get them too. why should we pay for life then have to pay extra? we made the jump to lifetime so we shouldnt be punished because people who didnt complain.
but as stated in a much earlier post we shouldnt push cryptic for this now a veteran isnt some1 who has played for 3 months its someone who has played for a long long time

I disagree. We should push cryptic for something on this now. Why not let people know they have some special thank you perks to look forward to by maintaining their sub. Some people don't just have $300 to spend but they can afford $15 a month. Once that $15 turns into $300 they should get perks and it would really help if they knew that now rather then later.
It would be good on many levels for them to announce a vet plan sooner then later.
A: It will cool the hostilities.
B: reunite the players.
C: encourage monthlies to keep their subscription.

I agree that announcing it sooner would be a good plan. However I don't think they should actually work on it until sometime after Episode 2. Maybe roll it out around the 6 month mark. But let people know its coming.

100% agree. Just let them know soon they plan on implementing it.

Well.. first you would have to play 20 months to = 1 lifetime subscription purchased after Feb. 1, 2010 to "Contributing a higher amount of monetary support".
However I do agree with a Veteran Rewards program for everyone based on number of months of active subscription.
The system should work similar to AoC Veteran Points system
adjusting times to make more sence than AoC calandar does.
Lets say they add unique stuff in a third C-Store tab (call it Veterans tab).. these items aren't expensive, however different items would have different values..
Such as Pets, 2 to 4 VP
Uniform / Social Clothing, 4 to 6 VP
Subscription active for 1 to 5 Months = 4 VP per monthActive
Subscription active for 5 to10 Months = 6 VP per month Active
Subscription active for 11 to 15 months = 8 VP per month Active
Subscription active for 16 to 20 months = 10 VP per month Active
now this wouldn't accumulate VP when someone cancels their account or suspends active game play time.
However someone who plays for 3 months would have built up12 VP.. they suspend for 3 months and come back.. they still have their 12 VP and can start earning again starting from the 4th month active subscription..
this way when someone hits 16 months they would have a total of 100 VP (which should be enough to buy a good set ot items ...
Sure this system could be adjusted some.. Heck I adjusted Funcom's Age of Conan Veteran system. for this example.. but I think it would be fair for everyone as based on length of game active subscription time.
None of the items purchased can effect game play (having a new race with character traits in line with the rest of the characters in game is perfectly fine IMHO).. but nothing like weapons or armor.. just Fluff similar to what the LTS subscriptions are getting now.

All I needed was some more RA5 storyline missions and new type exploration ones in the patch.
Got none so no incentive to keep paying.
