We were told before that there would be interiors. Then we were told they would not be ready at launch. Now I don't see the developers talking about them at all. What happened to them? Were we suppose to forget?
That other ship interiors besides the bridge will ALL be Microtransactions. If that happens I quit. Seriously. All the way. And I will never ever come back for any reason.

I'm surprised you haven't quit yet . . .
Ship Interiors are coming, and no . . . they will not be C-Store fluff. Also . . . about the C-Store . . . I have unlocked feature in the C-Store . . . I haven't paid a dime for any C-Store points. Considering all C-Store items have been free for me . . . well . . . thats not a bad deal at all.

For one, Im surprised I havent quit by now either. Seriously. I did recently take about a week off. I just got back on to experience the update. I'll probably be going back to playing other stuff and having more fun soon.
Secondly, how the heck do you know they wont be C-Store stuff? I have no doubt in my mind it very well could be. They announced they were adding a bunch of bridges to the game, and most of those turned out to be C-Store items. Imagine my dissapointment.
Third, do lifers get all the C-Store stuff free or what?

Lifers got an extra 500 points, that plus my Atari Pre-Order and Survey points, I could buy everything off C-Store for free. I have 140 points left. The features on the C-Store are very, very, very cheap. I'm surprised people are not exclaiming how nice it is to have these features for as cheap as they are.
And again . . . Ship Interiors are not Ship Bridges. Ship Interiors are spaces other than the bridge and I am fairly certain those will not be C-Store centric because the Devs have discussed adding missions and content to the interior of the ships.

Im fully aware that by ship interiors we arent talking about bridges.
Im still fearful they'll be microtransactions though. Im not saying they will be. I just wouldnt be surprised. In the least.
Also, I havent heard anything about them coming. Well, I know the devs said they'd like to add them. But as far as I could tell its not on the list of things coming soon (as in this summer).
So......I too am wondering why they arent on the priority list. They made a bunch of new bridge interiors for the C-Store rather quickly. Id like to think they could add other ship interiors just as quickly as well.
There have been half a hundred posts on how to make them functional. I wrote a couple myself. So trying to figure out how to make them functional shouldnt be hard.
Like the OP, I do wonder when we'll see them myself.

Probably because they're still debating on what they want to do with them. The only thing worse than having no ideas on how to make ship interiors functional is to have a million ideas and have to slowly whittle away which ones you can include, which ones wouldn't work together and then designing all of these interiors and missions for them and figuring out who's ship you go to when you do the mission, ect.
That being said I heard some devs talking about interiors this summer, possibly in or shortly after season 2.
Will there be free ship interiors 'down the road'? Yes.
Will there be C-Store ship interior variant designs for the interior spaces that are added? Probably.
Do I have a problem with this? Nope, not in the least.

As per an interview (I can't remember which one it was), the devs wish for Ship Interiors to come this July.
Ship Interiors, was the top thing in the Survey that people want. And in that interview, the dev said they know this and are working to have them by July.
Seeing as it's going to be a big thing, most likely it will be free. But of course I don't doubt that they may add extra ship interior rooms in the future for the C-Store. But the basic ship interiors and stuff (like our basic bridges) will be free most likely.
It just so happens that I've got an Interiors meeting on my calendar for tomorrow.
Woot! That's great. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
Ship Interiors and Bridge functionality is my number one thing that I've wanted for STO. I hope you guys make it customizable and such. ^_^
Oh and also, since Ship Interiors will be the topic, slip in the idea that since we will be seeing the rest of our crew inside the ship... could you also suggest in the meeting to allow us to customize the uniform of our crew (the redshirts). If or when Ship interiors come, we will be seeing the non-bridge officers more often, and it's just going to be weird seeing them not wearing the same uniform we made for our bridge officers.

Honestly, I'd be willing to sacrifice some crew diversity if I had to for this.
Just let me pick a male and a female template, no body slider. And populate the ship with humans in my uniforms with random haircuts and a modest range of hair colors, skin tones and complexions.

Something like that was what I had in mind actually. They just need to give us one uniform slot for the entire (non-bridge officer) crew. The game will just populate our Ship Interiors using the uniform but with random genders, race and class.

Would love to be able to make my crew all wear the tos uniform so they match:D

That's awesome news. To be honest...I'm not really a big MMO player...but picked up your game as I like Trek and always wanted to tool around the Trek universe and especially walk around the ships, hit some buttons, etc. I don't think any other trek game has offered that.
Is their any chance that fixing the scaling of interiors will be part of the discussion? I mentioned in another post, the we did get to do a mission on a federation vessel, the scaling was all off. Mostly...to big. It felt more like being in a warehouse than a starship.
The other thing I noticed...just getting a Star Cruiser Vessel Bridge, but have noticed this on other bridges...there is a whole section of computer displays...but they are all the same color(like blue), where displays on trek vessel are multi-colored...depending what is being displayed.

I think if they invest the effort into it, the way to go is:
- Male Template
- Female Template (Skirts, also women have different costume options in BOTH factions)
- Set the color schemes for the three branches. As it isn't a given what parts you use for which colors.
It's a total of eight screens for the easiest to follow UI experience. Four male screens. Four female screens.
You set the male costume with a default bodytype using all white costume parts. Then for each branch (science, engineering, tactical), you set the colors, with the option to change costume parts disabled. Then you do the same thing for females.
One costume for males with three color schemes. One costume for females with three color schemes.

That's because 25th century displays look slightly different and are all blue.
There are some retro bridges you can get with multicolored displays but anything "modern" (set in the year 2409) has switched over to all blue displays.
I'm loving my new 'Nomad' bridge, it's huuuuge! But some of the screens/consoles show a different class of ship to mine, and the view screen looks awful, especially up close.
Please Cryptic can we improve the viewscreen view?! I don't mind if the view outside doesn't match my ship's actual location, just as long as it looks like a view. Right now, it's totally 2D.
I can't wait to have a full ship to explore! I like the idea of being able to designate the uniform of your entire crew.
If Ship interiors are different for each ship class, I would happily buy new ships. I always see some of the T5 Science vessels flying around. I would love to use one for RP, but not combat. Having interiors that are some what unique to each one would make it fun to play around with different ships.
I think the most important thing for ship interiors is to tie them to missions. So much of Star Trek takes place directly on the ship. It's difficult to watch an episode of the show, then transition back to here, because it feels like a very different universe.
Possible mission ideas:
Explore: Run in to distressed ship and beam a survivor to Sick Bay. Speak with survivor, in Sick Bay, then beam over to the ship.
Explore: While examining a spacial anomaly, something happens in Engineering that requires some puzzle solving.
DSE: Beset upon by a Borg Fleet. If the ship is "destroyed" it really ends up disabled. The Borg board the ship. If the player is able to fight them off, he/she can take the fight back to their ship.
Social: Any missions that could come from your crew or BOs, maybe you find them while talking to the crew in the equivalent of 10 Forward or while fixing something in Engineering.
Diplomacy: Escort a Dignitary from one system to another. Take them to a few places aboard the ship first, then get called back when there is some sort of trouble wherever they are.
I think that if you only start with the basic top level areas like Sick Bay, Engineering, or Ready Room, you should still incorporate them into the basic randomly generated missions. I would especially like to see the interiors contribute to full episodes.
Please make the interiors differentiated for each ship. I would like a good reason to own a few ships or visit a friend's ship. Most people will have a narrow view of what is acceptable for their combat style, but we would more likely have a broader view of what we would pay for an interior (EC or Cstore).
Edit: I'd also like to mention the interior scaling issue. This is one of the greatest problems for my suspension of disbelief. There is nothing worse than beaming down to a small Escort vessel and finding a mess hall the size of a warehouse (War Games I believe). It took me about 10 minutes to even realize where I was. Whatever it takes, please do something about this to help the many players that have a problem. I would love a First Person view while inside to start with. Maybe there are other fixes that work for you.
Transparent/Translucent walls? The original interiors were all TV sets that had a few walls missing. Maybe this could work for you.

Which also brings up my greatest fear.

Access to ship interiors will be free. That doesn't mean they won't charge for cosmetic designs.
Season Two is targeted for July. Pretend I said "August" to avoid any disappointment if it's a week or two off as S2 is going to be a MAJOR patch.

I love posts like this, whenever a dev says they have an upcoming or just came from a meeting discussing a cool new feature.
