Who was it that told you to reinstall? Was it support? I will do a reinstall if it helps get me back online, but if that does not do it, then I will be canceling my subscription. I can not tolerate this kind of crappy support.
Support? Heh. It would be nice to hear from support, but no, it was just the general concesus of the forums that I neededt o reinstall.
I sent a support ticket on March 1st because I couldn't log in to the game after I entered my serial key, got a reply on the 22nd, effectively losing 21 days of my playtime.
I am not even filing one this time, only a week left before my account expires...it would take them longer than that to get it fixed.
(Legatus)
Neither. It gets to the screen where it shows the communicator Insignia and says "Loading" on the bottom. Then it just hangs there. No error messages just no changes at all. I have gone so far as to let it sit for 30 min on this screen.
I just received an answer to my ticket and it would seem that it is a general response cause it mentioned right away to upgrade my drivers, But I pointed out in my ticket that I was already running the most up to date drivers. It then says for me to run the game in safe mode. WTH?
This is my system
Win 7
Nvidia 8700m GT x2 in SLI mode
4GB of RAM
Core 2 Duo at 2.5GHZ
ALSO : I am currently reinstalling the 11G of updates to see if that will work. If not I will delete the whole game do a full reinstall and the 11G updates and if then still nothing I will cancel my subscription and not come back. The game was fun but not worth this hassle. LOL May I will go back to WOW.
Hmm not that it helps you specifically, but others who have had this issue all seem to be running a "Nvidia 8000 GT" series video card (8700 or 8800's).
I had something like this going on it game in that I couldn't zone into beta urase (ds9 sector block) but I could go every where else. As soon as I tried to zone there, my character was permanently stuck and it would hang and eventually disconnect me from the server. Only way out was to get a GM to teleport me while I was offline.
I had adjusted the video settings on my character a few weeks back and hadn't been back to that sector. I ended up fixing it by deleting my local video config file (sorry I don't remember which file it is specifically) and letting STO recreate a default video config when it started up. After that, no problem at all zoning anywhere. So just thinking along those lines, it might be something to do with one of the video settings (which you can't really adjust until you get in game, or fiddle with the config file manually)? Not sure if you ever adjusted them from the default or not, or it may be a case of the defaults just don't work with that 8000 series GT card?
Not sure if that even remotely helps, but thought I'd relate my experience and fix...
I too have this problem - I have had a months break to let the game settle down, only to come back and not be able to play.
I am not using an nvidia graphics card, my spec is:
Windows 7
System
Manufacturer Dell Inc.
Model Studio 1557
Total amount of system memory 4.00 GB RAM
System type 64-bit operating system
Number of processor cores 4
Graphics
Display adapter type ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
Total available graphics memory 2298 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 512 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1786 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.634.0.0
Primary monitor resolution 1920x1080
DirectX version DirectX 10
Ok, just found a potential quick fix, did a system re-boot, and then laucnhed the client, before clicking "engage" I went to the options on the top menu, and selected the "Fast Launch" and "Safe Mode" options, and turned off full screen
It loaded fine first time. To turn off fast launch has to be done from the launcher, but before logging in - after turning it off and back to full screen it seems to be working
I have the same issue. Also when changing into another map mt PC locks up and half to power cycle to get it going again. Also crash about 10 - 15 times per mission when doing any ground mission.
I have the newest version of all my hardware drivers, and software for everything.
I have all of my windows updates.
I uninstalled Startrek Online.
I formatted and reinstalled windows.
I have NIS disabled while running in the game.
I have the router firewall disabled.
System is staying cool, and not overheating.
I didnt have to reinstall, there ia an option to verify, that checks all the files and just downloads the ones you need again......:)
Well have tried the Force Verify, the Safe Mode & the Fast Launcher all with no results. Still crashes on Loading Page. Haven't been able to Play since patch on 3-25, Have had no replies on my tickets. Will wait 1 more day then will reinstall game & if that doesn't work will cancel my subscription to STO. wait til Cryptic gets their act together better.
it downloaded patch and i played for awhile and finished mission then when i was trying to go back into space it frooze at logo then showed a server not responding. i closed application and retried it and still nothing. as the last 2 replies i get the same thing. im stuck at - "retrieving character list ".
ok i was ganna say the update helped but when i tried to go into serius sector it did the same thing last night. it stalled at logo then said "server not responding" i restarted game and again its at retrieving list of characters. this is really sucking back.
I'm unable to log in for any longer than a couple minutes at a time since the big patch. Not sure what the fix is. Anyone else having this issue? I'm about to cancel if this isn't resolved soon. I dont need this in something I pay for monthly.
